What to Read after The Dragonprince's Legacy
A Reading List for fans of the author Aaron Pogue
The Complete Collection
Have you read everything available in the Dragonprince's Legacy? The first book in the series is Taming Fire, but don't forget the short stories and novellas.
These are all of the titles currently available in the series, sorted in story order.
The Godlanders War
There's more epic fantasy from Aaron Pogue in the Godlanders War! Read the epic trilogy that started it all, then check out the short stories for some extra adventures.
Ghost Targets (science fiction)
If you like murder mysteries or sci-fi, the Ghost Targets division of the FBI has some stories you might be interested in. Start with Surveillance (available for free!), and get a glimpse into the near future when perfect surveillance has changed almost everything about our lives.
Discworld (Terry Pratchett)
Terry Pratchett is Aaron Pogue's favorite author. Dumas and Zelazny come close behind him, but Terry Pratchett writes epic fantasy, adventure, mystery, slice-of-life, meaning-of-life stuff that's all of the first order, and it's funny and easy to read and fun, and it'll make your life better.
Start with any of his books. This one's a favorite. But read them all. You'll be glad you did.
Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan)
There's no better modern adventure fantasy epic than The Wheel of Time. It's tedious at times, oversized and outdated within just a couple of decades, and sprawling even farther than its famous maps....
But these books showcase fantasy adventure in the way the Marvel Cinematic Universe showcased superhero comics. It might take a year, but they're worth the read.
Riddle-Master (Patricia McKillip)
Patricia McKillip writes magic like poetry. Aaron Pogue has described the Riddle-Master Trilogy as the most beautiful fantasy he has ever read.
The Chronicles of Amber (Roger Zelazny)
Roger Zelazny writes postmodern magical realism that obliterates the lines between fantasy and science fiction. His worldbuilding is earthshaking, and his stories mix playful swashbuckling with high philosophy.
Historical Fiction (Dumas, Scott, White)
The roots of adventure fantasy come from the fairy tales and imaginative histories of the past. These are some of the works that shaped the storytelling in Pogue's fantasies.
Fantasy Classics
