John Stewart Wynne

John Stewart Wynne is an American author of fiction, as well as a Grammy-nominated producer of audio books. In addition to his short story collection THE OTHER WORLD (first published by City Lights and now by Tree Line Books), he has written the novels THE RED SHOES (nominated for the Lambda Literary Award for Best Gay Fiction) and CRIME WAVE (published by John Calder). His short fiction has been published in High Risk 2, Christopher Street, and John Calder's international New Writing and Writers series, among other publications. Wynne's poetry has been featured in The American Poetry Review and The Paris Review. Starting in 2023, Tree Line Books began publishing individual digital editions of various stories by Wynne as part of their Story Book Series: The Sighting (selected by Ian Young as a seminal work of gay fiction); Louise, Don't Go; Narcissist; Blonds; A Night in the Pampas; The Needles Highway; ​​​​​​​and Afternoon. In December 2025 Tree Line Books published a new collection of Wynne's short fiction titled CONSEQUENCES OF ATTRACTION, and in January 2026 they will publish a new reprint of THE RED SHOES​​​​​​​.
