An art school survivor, Curtis Star (he/him) discovered his love for writing diverse, interesting characters at a young age. He was actively involved in the zine culture of the Quantum Leap and Kung Fu fandoms, and later Ghostbusters as well.

That fandom zeal translated into many more beloved shows over the years until he discovered anime and his future partner Dani Hermit. Together with several beloved friends, they created a self-indulgent world full of wizards, dragons, fandom favorite characters, and each other. Over the nearly five years they spent playing in this world, Curtis and Dani's characters fell in love -- and then so did they!

For the next few years, they played together in their shared fandoms. But eventually, that play morphed into original characters and original worlds. Those characters and worlds took on several forms until they became the Parliament of Twilight books that were their first (and admittedly not most successful) foray into the world of self-publishing.

Now as a part of Hermit & Star Books, Curtis has created a growing number of fascinating worlds and intriguing characters - including the Dystopian Horror Adventure of his solo effort, the Rise & Fall Saga.

​​​​​​​When not writing, Curtis does digital art renditions of the H&S characters as well as fanart for his fave fandoms. This year (2022), he is celebrating a whopping 23 years together with Dani.
