About the author

Laurie Gilbert

Laurie Gilbert spent her last 15 years as an MRI Technologist at a level one trauma center, but she has worked in small, rural hospitals as well as large, private upscale medical centers. She served four years on the A.R.R.T. MRI Examination Committee and two years as an MRI Exam Item Writer for A.R.R.T. She earned her B.S. in Radiologic Science at Oregon Institute of Technology. She also holds certifications as a registered Cardiovascular-Interventional Technologist, CT Technologist, Mammography Technologist and Radiologic Technologist.
She seeks to balance the highly technical side of her life with creative outlets such as writing, oil painting and international adventure travel. She wrote her first novel after her mother died of cancer in 1986. Subsequently, she won a national writing award and saw her first traditionally published novel, HARD EVIDENCE, in 1994.
Laurie has lived in the foothills of Mt. Hood for over 40 years with husband, Jack, and more recently with Siberian Husky, also named Jack. She is very proud of her son and daughter-in-law, both dedicated healthcare warriors, and of her only grandchild who is serving his country as an Army Airborne Medic.
