The loss of her mother to cancer inspired her to write. Subsequently, she won a national writing award and sold her first traditionally published novel, Hard Evidence. Her second medical thriller, Deadly Conspiracies, won the Daphne Du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Laurie has lived in the foothills of Mt. Hood for many years with husband, Jack, and more recently with Siberian Husky, coincidentally also named Jack. She is very proud of her son and daughter-in-law, both dedicated healthcare warriors, and of her only grandchild who completed his service as an Army Airborne Medic and is now working as an ED Tech while pursuing his education.
