Joy Llewellyn spent much of her childhood living in an isolated fly-in bush camp in northern Canada where she developed an appreciation for wild spaces, mosquito repellant, and adventure books. She promised herself that when she grew up, she would feed her rebel adventure yearnings and voyage around the world. She has since travelled to over 30 countries and herded goats in France, was a governess in Australia, lived in a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, and hiked thousands of kilometres on different Camino routes in France and Spain. She was a newspaper journalist, had fiction and non-fiction stories published in anthologies, and wrote and story edited film and television scripts for many years, work which led to her teaching screenwriting in Canada, India, and China. Joy now lives on a small island where she hangs out with real and imaginary female rebels of all ages and writes stories about them.
