Although Roy Minet’s major in college was physics, he accepted a particularly interesting job offer in engineering with a large multi-national corporation as his first employment. That led to positions in sales, marketing, then marketing management, and finally management of a strategic business planning department, all for the same corporation.
Moving into small business, he bought and operated a master beer distributorship for 12 years before selling it. While distributing (and perhaps drinking) beer, he founded Intelligent Computer Systems, Inc., which pioneered comprehensive, integrated, real-time business software and installed turnkey computer systems for distribution businesses nationwide. After 22 years, ICS was sold to the 3M Corporation.
Mr. Minet is now retired and pursuing a backlog of personal projects—most notably, improving all aspects of elections. Work done in 2009 produced the Precinct-Preserving Splitline (PPS) geometric procedure—an elegant cure for gerrymandering. In 2020, he proposed the Approve/Approve/Disapprove Voting (AADV) method as the best replacement for the plurality method—finally resolving the 240-year-long voting methods debate. The Election Manager software was developed in 2011, then revised in 2021 to include the AADV method.
Mr. Minet also has taught economics in 11th and 12th grades with the Junior Achievement program. Approximately 40 of his op-ed columns have been published. He was the Libertarian Party’s candidate for Pennsylvania Auditor General in 2016.
