The Amethyst Wand Shop Series series is a fun mystery series with suspenseful elements and a budding romance. Witches and Stitches (Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries #2) is such a fun read. Amy (aka Amethyst) is still consulting with Ambrose and the Paranormal Police Department (PPD). In this book, she gets even more profound as the case they are working on allows her skills outside of wand making to come into play. Amy also makes friends with a couple of other paranormal women, Stacy and Van, who are working on this challenging case. The characters continue to engage the reader in this book as in the previous two (book one and the prequel). Amy is as quirky and lovable as ever. Her antics had me laughing and smiling. Another side of Amy comes out in this book. She seems to be the consultant for Ambrose, who is his usual serious and focused detective. He seems to loosen up a bit as he and Amy both discover how much they appreciate each other. This book was fun to read and kept me engaged. The storyline is very balanced, with serious elements and humor balanced well. The mystery was a bit heavy, as was the ending, which leads to the next book, Rites and Knights. Ambrose has some big troubles to deal with that Amethyl is determined to help with. I can hardly wait. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ambrose and Amy seem to be moving closer to each other as her status as a consultant becomes official and they spend more time together. His goofy dog meets her, and it is puppy love at first sight. A supe with some disturbing tendencies has left a grisly momento on display. As Amy gets involved with the women who are a part of the investigative team, things get intense on the family and rest of the team front. An exciting peek into Ambrose, Amy and their history and achievements. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mashup of Police Procedural and Paranormal Cozy… with a Dash of Romance! -- In the past couple of years, I have read a fair amount of this author’s fiction, but I found this one to be so different from her other series... even a bit different from the previous two books in the series. Now that Amy is a part of the Paranormal Police Department, sections of this book read like a police procedural with a paranormal cozy mystery twist. For instance, when she and Ambrose are in the morgue finding out about the unique “body”—very macabre for a cozy—at the core of this book, it reads much like a more serious police procedural. But the author is talented and did not let this overshadow the paranormal and cozy aspects of the mystery... as well as the slow-burn romance. Amy is such a character, and I not only enjoyed the budding romance between her and ever-so-serious Ambrose, but with new women she meets as a part of the case. It's always fun to discover an author that you already enjoy has other facets to her talent. I look forward to the next book in the series, which was teased about at the end of this one (though no true cliffhanger, thank goodness). I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
