Death and the Angel

About this ebook
On Halloween night, the one night per year when certain spirits come to life in the human world, reaper Theo evaluates his existence while at a local café. To his surprise and delight, a familiar face from his past enters the café. Theo has never forgotten Anastacia or the feelings he has carried for her. She informs him that she is now a fallen angel, half out of the immortal world, and half in the mortal world.
Theo and Anastasia both know there are no coincidences, so their meeting has some important meaning. But what is it? That is for The Fates to know, and the pair to figure out.
On Halloween night, when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, anything is possible.

Chapter 1
It was the Reaper’s favorite holiday.
Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows Eve, Allhalloween, All Saints’ Eve, the first day of Allhallowtide. The time of year when the veil between the two worlds of life and death was at its very thinnest. For a few hours he could be seen and heard. Not the shadowy figure who appeared at the moment of one’s death. For one night he could seamlessly blend in with the human population and enjoy a few precious hours of life rather than death.
Not that he hated death. When his own health turned, and fever set in, a Reaper arrived at his bedside. As if by magic, he was transported to a beautiful place of rest, filled with blue skies and fragrant exotic flowers in vivid hues that bloomed all around him. He slept a most glorious sleep for he had no idea how long. It was sublime, everything he ever imagined Heaven to be.
But, nothing good lasts forever.
One day he was visited by a gnarly old man who relayed a message from some unseen, unknown higher-up.
The Fates.
Enough rest. It was time to get a job.
He came to find out there were many jobs available on this plane of existence. Employment as angels, both Light and Dark were abundant. But he considered himself somewhere in between. Not really bad, but he wasn’t all that good either. He
