About this ebook
As a human growing up on an alien planet, my mom always had one rule for me: never kiss an alien.
Too bad that I've found myself stowing away an alien ship with a big, bad warrior alien who wants nothing to do with me during the day and everything to do with me during the night.
He's big and burly and entirely wrong for me.
When we find ourselves landing on a strange planet to hunt for a missing prince, I realize that I'll be losing more than my V-Card if I'm not careful.
I could lose my life.
Never Kiss an Alien is a spicy alien rom-com by Sophie Stern. This story takes place in the same world as The Hidden Planet, Into the Darkness, Alien Chaos, Aliens of Malum, and Alien Darlings.

Never Kiss an Alien - Sophie Stern
Chapter 1: Here we go, I guess.
"N ever kiss an alien ."
My mom pounded those words into my head, reminding me day after day after day. She didn't have time for alien romance and in her opinion, I shouldn't have time, either. I was supposed to be a mature girl. I was supposed to be kind and smart and well-read. Mom always wanted to raise someone really polite and really clever, and while I might have been both of those things, it was always under protest.
What I really wanted was to be free.
Maybe that was why I was lurking around the ship that had parked in the middle of a field overnight. It wasn’t the kind of thing that happened on a usual weeknight. The ship was unexpected and big. I’d seen plenty of ships before, but none like this. It was beautiful. It was also so close to me that I could practically touch it.
Why was it here?
Why was it so shiny?
And why did I have a feeling that the people inside were up to no good?
Looking at the ship made me feel suspicious, which probably wasn’t a good thing. There was a part of me that thought the only emotion I deserved to feel was excitement. This was the weirdest thing that had happened to me.
Ever.
I might not know much about the world around me, but I had always had a good sense of what was right and what was wrong. Anyone who deemed it necessary to park their spaceship in the middle of a deserted field just outside of a tiny town? Yeah, they were up to no good.
Creeping closer, I paused behind a large tree and watched as a big, tall guy with horns walked down a little ramp and looked around. I ducked behind the tree when he turned in my direction, hoping I'd been fast enough. I didn't want him to see me just yet. Eventually, maybe I’d reveal myself, but not yet.
Not before I knew whether these were friendly aliens or evil aliens.
It's clear,
he called out. His voice was loud enough that the people in the ship could hear him, but low enough that the animals and other creatures in the forest wouldn't be disturbed.
I'd lived on Sapphira my entire life, and I'd rarely ventured anywhere else. I'd never seen anyone like these people before. I'd never come across anyone who just felt like they could land their ship without permission. They weren't even in a legal place. The harbors were all in the capital city, and we were far from there.
Once you got out of the capital city on Sapphira, things could be pretty weird. A lot of the planet was filled with forests and jungles, mountains and rivers, but Mom and I had lived in a small, little town where nothing really ever happened. After she died, I stayed in the house we'd shared, just trying to figure out what I was supposed to do with my life.
I was human, but my parents on Sapphira had adopted me as a little kid. Sometimes I wondered if I should leave the planet and go try to find other humans. After all, maybe there were others like me. Maybe finding other humans would explain why I always felt like such an outcast.
Now, though, I wondered if fate had something else in store for me.
Voices sounded, and I looked up once more to see three more people coming down from the ship. They weren't really people the way I was. They were from another planet, but I didn't know which one. One of them had a long tail, one had horns, and one of them had deep, purple skin that was covered in tiny white scars.
Strange.
A warrior, perhaps?
It's beautiful!
A woman laughed and clapped her hands. She hurried to the center of the field and spun around in a circle. Oh, it's lovely.
It's not bad,
another guy commented.
It'll do for tonight, at least,
someone else murmured.
Who were these people?
Why did they need a place to stay for the night?
And why did I have a feeling that they were up to no good?
Chapter 2: Sapphira isn't bad.
Istood there in the darkness for what felt like an eternity. It was probably super creepy of me, but I couldn't stop watching the little group of people standing around outside of the ship.
What were they doing here?
Why had they come to my planet?
Visitors from other worlds weren’t entirely uncommon anymore, but these weren’t people who had come in officially. I was certain of that. If they had, they wouldn’t be hiding in the darkness or lurking around this empty field. If they were allowed to be here, then they would be hanging out in one of the cities.
I have to tell you, Light, I'm kind of in love with this place,
the woman said. She had two tiny horns that poked out of the top of her head. Her skin looked a little scaly, like a lizard's. I kind of liked it, though. She was wearing a long black dress that flowed and moved breezily when she walked.
I'm not in love with it,
the big guy with matching horns said. I figured he must be Light. His skin was scaly, too, but unlike the woman, his clothing was almost entirely green. It was long and flowy, too, but I had the feeling his gear was designed to camouflage his body and not to make him look pretty. It seems damp.
Sapphira?
Damp?
I bristled at the slight insult about my planet. It wasn't that I expected everyone in the world would love Sapphira, but it was my home. Even if it hadn't felt like home since my mom died, it was where I'd been raised. There were plenty of good things about this planet. The food was good and the people were very, very kind.
I didn’t think it was damp.
It's not that bad,
the guy with the long tail put his hands on his hips. He looked and nodded with satisfaction. If you come here in the summer, there's a ton to do. Did you know that on Sapphira, it's quite common to leave the cities and go camping? Can you believe it? Camping!
All of that was true. Sapphira had some great summer camping events. There were enough jungles and forests that people could spread out as far as they wanted to. Not that anyone should try camping in the jungles. Even I wasn't that brave. The jungles on Sapphira were filled with all sorts of horrible things. None of them were of interest to me.
It's not bad,
the warrior-looking guy said. He was the tallest: the biggest. His purple skin had white lines etched in it. Now that I was getting a better look at him, I was almost positive those were scars. They had to be. We'll leave in the morning.
He turned and started to walk back onto the ship.
Aren't you going to sit with us a while?
Light asked. I could tell that he was trying to keep his voice even and level, but he didn't think the big guy should be alone for some reason. Curious.
Not tonight.
As soon as the purple guy was back on the ship, the others sat down in a little circle, pulled out a few bottles of something, and started drinking. It was soon obvious to me that they were drinking some type of alcohol, but it was nothing like I'd ever seen. I was curious about it. I kind of wanted some, too. It looked tasty.
I stayed in the darkness, moving quietly behind bushes and trees, and I tried not to let them see me.
What's Evander's problem?
This time, the woman was the one speaking.
Leave him be, Gleam.
No, I don't think I will leave him be. Something's been hurtin' his horns since Dreagle, and I want to know what.
He's probably just mad we went to Dreagle,
the tail-guy said.
Gleam and Light turned and looked at him. He just shrugged, as though the answer was obvious.
Dreagle? They'd been to Dreagle? That was probably the worst planet in the history of planets. I didn't even know people actually went there. I definitely didn't know people came back from there.
Who were these people?
And what the hell were a bunch of space pirates doing on Sapphira?
