Clearly, Emma Trafford’s new neighbour is a lady killer but is the scoundrel with the scar capable of murder? Emma can barely contain her precocious younger sister, Lily the child swears she spied their neighbour engaged in foul play in his Bloomsbury love nest. But when Lily goes too far searching for “evidence,” Emma must save the imp by distracting Simon with an all-consuming kiss rife with danger and desire. Simon Marlton, Viscount Adler doesn’t know which is more infuriating: that an anonymous intruder set his soul on fire and left a deep longing in her wake or that during their encounter his signet ring, a token of his painful past, went missing. With the memory of a faint scent of paint spirits and the knowledge that his neighbour Emma is a portraitist, Simon sets out to capture his thief . This is the second book in the series but could stand very well as a standalone, however it was good to catch up with Hayden & Sophia. Simon decides to ‘go by' the name of Simon Radcliffe whilst in Bloomsbury as he is somewhat notorious. I really enjoyed this feel good book, I was immediately drawn in with Lily’s assumption that Simon was murdering his mistress. The characters were very well fleshed & I liked both Simon & Emma but it was the secondary characters that added the icing on the cake. Lily was just delightful, then there were Baines & Harris Simon’s servants who were hilarious & finally Mrs Flynn. The story flowed really well & the pages flew over. There were misunderstandings & secrets which all added to this enchanting engrossing read. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I thought that this book was incredibly clever and fun. I can't tell you how much I loved Emma, Simon and the scene stealing, Lily. Emma and Simon made an excellent couple that was easy to root for and believe in. I thought Emma was the perfect balance of strength, sassiness and heart and Simon was a totally swoon worthy hero if you like them damaged, scarred and complex (Which I so do!). The well written storyline was highly entertaining and had me surprised at how much time had past when I did manage to look up from reading. This absolutely irresistible combination of humor, emotion, drama, romance, tension and some hijinks is an excellent, not to be missed book.
