About this ebook

Was Danna the only one I'd been blind to all these years?

Returning home from a disastrous ski trip, Jake is quick to trace Mel's hand in the welcoming touches scattered throughout his apartment. But when a closer look reveals more than she intended to show, Jake's world is turned upside down. Can he somehow prove to Mel that he's woken up at last, or has he lost the chance forever?

    About the Author

Special thanks to Kendra for the prompt that inspired this story and the contest that motivated me to write it.

Thanks to my family, especially my mom and my sisters-in-law, both for reading and enjoying the story and for offering insight on multiple versions of cover designs. :)

You good, dude? Or you need anything else?

Seth dropped my duffle bag on the floor as I lowered myself onto the couch and propped my arm carefully on a pillow.

Nah, and I’m tired of you bossing me around. Get outta here. I gave him a grin that wouldn’t have been quite as tight if the roads hadn’t been quite as bad.

Mmm-hmm. It was scary sometimes the way Seth could read me. I’m texting you in half an hour to make sure you’ve taken your meds. And if I were you, I’d grab something to eat at the same time, because you know Mel will be asking. He perched himself on the arm of the couch and frowned. You sure you’re okay?

The ride bumped it around a little, that’s all. It didn’t hurt to be honest; he’d always shot straight with me. I’ll probably sack out here for a while and just try to keep it up and still.

Yeah, that’s not totally what I meant. Seth unlocked my phone and flipped through my pictures.
