About this ebook
This is my true story for publishing my books; the trials and errors, failures and accomplishments. Maybe you can learn from the things I got wrong and repeat the things I got right. Hopefully your sales will be better. Becoming an Indie Author isn't easy, but it was a choice I made and have no regrets.
Amber Grosjean

My Writing Journey - Amber Grosjean
Chapter One
How I Discovered Writing
MY JOURNEY BEGINS with an idea that surprised me. I have shared this story many times through social networking like Instagram and Facebook. I’ll probably share it many more times in my life after this because I do enjoy telling it. It was how I discovered who I was meant to be...
***
It was the summer after I turned eleven years old. It was also the year after I had attempted suicide due to the teasing and bullying I’d endured in school. I was on a day-trip with my maternal grandparents and my little sister, Wendi. The drive was promised to be long, so Wendi and I packed some plain paper, pens, and coloring pencils to draw along the trip. My grandfather always enjoyed the scenic routes and didn’t drive faster than the speed limit. He often kept the speed under the limit, taking in the scene as he drove. We lived in Monroe, Indiana at the time, and were heading to North Webster, Indiana, to visit my uncle. We spent a few hours there before turning around and headed home. It was during the ride home when I discovered I was a writer.
I had a pen in my hand and the paper on my lap, but couldn’t decide on what to draw. As I stared at the clouds, I tried to come up with an idea. I’m not sure how long that lasted before the idea struck me, but it wasn’t the idea I was searching for. An idea for a story popped into my head instead. I gripped the pen and began writing down the words as if I’d been writing for years. Everything was flowing naturally. By the time we reached the farm where we lived, I had several pages written and I was hooked. I was excited and I yearned for more story. It was as if I had found myself. I was now whole as if a piece of me was missing. I didn’t know it, but when I found that piece of myself I knew it was who I was always meant to be. A distant voice within my heart was singing—this was who God intended me to be.
Chapter Two
My First Short Story and The Second Story that Grew From It
––––––––
THE FIRST STORY I wrote was called The Adventures of Norman Witchcrafte. I changed the spelling of one word to make it a name, I thought it was genius. The story was about a little boy who died and went to the wrong part of Heaven.

I was tickled pink. I began telling everyone that I was writing something and couldn’t believe it was true! When I shared the idea for the story, my older sister chewed me out and said it wasn’t possible to go to the wrong part of Heaven. By the way, I did know that, but this was a work of fiction, why couldn’t it be true in a story? I didn’t listen to her because it was a made-up story and I could imagine Norman’s adventure through the clouds.
Some of the scenes were inspired by Goonies, a movie I enjoyed at the time (still enjoy). I was excited and asked my mother to read it,
