      Chapter 1

      A New Friend

      TOM STEPPED OUT OF HIS ROOM and into the pool area as he prepared to go and find some breakfast. However, his interest was quickly caught by May, Gerry, and the new werewolf he had heard was called Josh. The whole Manor knew they had a new refugee to add to their number, but there was quite a lot of debate about what the werewolves were up to and why. The previous evening not one of the pack had shown up for work and others had been filling in where necessary.

      Tom, May called as soon as she saw him, beckoning him over, come and meet Josh.

      The three were standing just outside May and Gerry's door at the other end of room, so Tom put on a small burst of speed and trotted round the pool.

      Tom this is Josh, Josh this is Tom, Gerry introduced. We brought Josh into the pack yesterday afternoon.

      That revelation piqued Tom's interest even more because he'd been witness to other wolves being included in the pack and it had never kept the whole pack busy for over half a day before. Filing his questions away for later, he signed 'hello' at Josh.

      Hi, Josh replied.

      Tom is our head bouncer, May explained, he checks everyone coming in and deals with asking unruly members to politely leave.

      Not always politely, Tom signed back with a grin.
