This short book is mostly dedicated to a psychological and epistemological exploration of the nature of deception, with one chapter at the end dryly listing off subconscious movements and what they reveal about the speaker’s feelings. It draws heavily from Liespotters by Pamela Meyer, down to using the orchid that replicates the appearance of a female wasp to attract male wasps as the same first example of deception in nature. There is little discussion of exactly how one should go about observing these behaviors, or how to deal with false positives, only an admonishment to study the book deeply.
