See AllBlackthorn Academy Intrigue
The Blackthorn Academy for Supernaturals series has been enjoyable but the books are hit or miss for me. Some are really good and some are just OK. Monster’s Magic falls somewhere in the middle.
It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the story, it was just kind of confusing to me. There’s information missing as one scenario suddenly becomes something else. There was really no transition and it almost seemed like there was two different plots. There were also mentions of the MFC’s parents being necromancers, too but she was adopted. I wondered how she could take after her parents if she was adopted. Were her biological parents part of the intrigue or were they not significant?
This could all be because of the length, as Blackthorn Academy is a series of shorter stories. It’s hard to know.
Either way, I enjoyed the story and just read it for what it was, part of a good series that has very unique characters and settings.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Teagan and Shayde…❤️
4.7 stars
This is the seventh book in the Blackthorn Academy of Supernaturals and it can be read as a standalone. I plan to go back and read this series from the beginning. Teagan is a woman who had her life uprooted in an instant and winds up in a new place with new people and a myriad of questions as to how things turned out the way they did. As she works her way through the new academy, she makes friends with Shayde who is turning her on to some interesting information, but all is not as it seems. Ms. Morgan has a way of crafting her characters that you just fall in love with; it does not matter if they are good, bad or have names that make you laugh. Her stories are engrossing and will have any reader unable to put this one down until the end. It did seem a bit rushed, and I would love to see this expanded into a longer work.
Fun read
Teagan ends up at Blackthorn and instead of a quit easy time at school she faces trouble and danger. And lots of surprises along the way both good and bad. Entertaining and fun to read. Had to see what Teagan would face and discover about her family.
