About this ebook

I'm not a song. I don't have blue eyes like the girls you sing about. I have a blue soul.

Sonnet Rosewood needs a new chapter-the kind that doesn't remind her of anything she's leaving behind in the Ozarks. So, when opportunity beckons to escape to the Great Smoky Mountains for a writing retreat, she answers with a firm yes.

But the arrival of a decade-old and short-lived fling at the cabin changes everything.

How quickly we push past the barriers we erected between ourselves for years."

Recognizing the beautiful voice of the unexpected guest reminds her of his name, Hunter Hart: the man she wrote as forgettable, who vowed to show her he was anything but if given a second chance.

Maybe you want the challenge more than you want the girl.

What started as Sonnet's attempt to escape her past thrusts her straight into the responsibilities of another's, making their future sound more and more like the sad songs they've been writing together. While their passion is undeniable, their happily-ever-after is not. The single father's rules leave little room for a different kind of love. And Sonnet has rules of her own-to never again wait for a man to open his heart to her.

Blind Melody is Book 3 of the Muse & Music Series. It can be read as a standalone.

I love when I read familiar things in books. Many of the chapter titles and songs listed are ones that I enjoy. They take me back in time. I also have great memories of Nashville/Tennessee, so reading about that area makes me happy. I wish I could write/sing, so the idea of being at a writers' retreat was fascinating, of reading about muses, writer's block, success, and the lack of. Understanding poetry is something I struggle with. What I take from it may not be what the author intended. This author is a poet, and while I've only read a few of her books (so far), I kinda feel like I'm not grasping what it's all about. These two have had multiple run-ins. The connection was there, the tugging of the heartstrings for each other, but the timing was off. I get unrequited love. I even get protecting your heart, and running away from love. The alcohol went hand in hand with the sexy times. Was it needed to remember? To forget? To be the permission to give in? I think he was waiting for her to reach out with whatever scraps she's give him, while she'd keep deleting his info. Is that obsession or love? I don't know. I went from wanting to throw the book to hoping they didn't give up. I'm just happy it was all hashed out in the end.

Haunting and soulful. This was another wonderful story by JR Rogue. She author paints a picture with her words and makes you feel the emotions of the characters. I loved it! I received this ARC at no cost in exchange for my honest review

I've read several books written by J.R. Rogue; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is part of the Muse & Music Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Sonnet & Hunter; after years of being apart they are thrown together again at a writing retreat in the Smoky Mountains. I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
