About this ebook
How far would you go for your child?
He is a Ranger of the North. His fellow Rangers, those he would call friends, are dead. Now, he has been branded a deserter and a thief. He only wishes to get back to his family alive.
It is said that Fadis the Ranger stole something from the king. Now a massive bounty is on his head. But in particular, is isn't the sell-swords and bounty hunters that he should worry about. There is a powerful mage on his trail and this man cares little of a reward of gold.
Only a few hours from his wife's embrace and his son's smile, will he, at last, be free from his past? Nothing ever remains the same and this Ranger is about to learn that. The hard way.

Part 1 Ranger of the North
So the war is over, then?
an old man asked him.
Fadis looked over from behind his ale. It is, for most of us.
The feeble man who had abruptly decided to tap him on the shoulder scuffled over to the bar.
Fadis shifted his seating and kept his bow on the table in front of him. He was enjoying a drink, a well-deserved one after the five years of fighting he had taken part in. But the conditions of his leave from the service of the king were a bit murky. He was headed home. Home to his wife, his child, and to finally put aside the Ranger he had been forced to be for too long. The tavern was a warm find in the far north. It was by the ocean on a bluff that overlooked the black waters on a moonless night. He had been riding a while and horse couldn’t take much more.
A few moments later, the old man from before came back to the table with another ale.
From one soldier to another, I thank you.
Fadis stared at the tankard. He took a deep breath and smiled at the man.
Thank you.
Taking the tankard, they both nodded, and he took a long drink. He thought of how she had stopped writing him over four years ago. He hadn’t heard from his wife in too long. He prayed she was okay. He couldn’t keep serving the king. He was good with a bow, but that was no excuse for him to stay. He was a Ranger to protect his family, not to fight in a war against elves. Very little good had come from his engagements, save a bow of elven Yela wood he had found. It was a small token to stay his anger.
So you fought the elves?
the old man asked.
He stopped drinking and set the mug down. The old man had sat down to his left and didn’t seem to
