About the author

Jules Wake's earliest known declaration that she planned to be a writer came at the age of ten. Along the way she was diverted by the glamorous world of PR and worked on many luxury brands, taking journalists on press trips to awful places like Turin, Milan, Geneva, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam and occasionally losing the odd member of the press in an airport. It gave her the opportunity to eat amazing food, drink free alcohol as well as providing opportunities to hone her writing skills on press releases and to research European cities for her books.
Eventually the voices in her head persuaded her it was time to sit down and write the novel she'd always talked about. Her debut novel in 2014, was quickly followed by the bestselling From Italy With Love, published by One More Chapter, HarperCollins, which reached number 1 in the Amazon Free Kindle charts.
Jules' book Covent Garden in the Snow was a Kindle Top 2 bestseller and the follow up book Notting Hill in the Snow was nominated for a Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
Her latest books The Saturday Morning Park Run came out in August 2020 and The Spark in December 2020, which was also nominated for a Romantic Novel of the Year Award. In 2021, her historical fiction novel, The Secrets of Latimer House was a complete departure set during WW2. Her most recent book was published on Kindle at the end of April 2022, The Wednesday Morning Wild Swim and will be published in paperback in July 2022.
She also writes cosy romantic fiction as Julie Caplin and the eight in her popular Romantic Escapes Series, The Cosy Cottage in Ireland was published in September 2021. The next in the series The Christmas Castle in Scotland is published in October 2022.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2021One of the best romances I have ever read. I truly loved the characters, who both believed in each other and loved most deeply.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2020A delightful romantic comedy from Jules Wake’s irrepressible and irresistible pen, The Spark is a fantastic tale that is hard to put down.
Love at first sight is the kind of thing that only happens in books and movies, it certainly does not happen in real life. However, when Sam and Jess lock eyes at a party, they soon realise that Hollywood wasn’t lying and that you can find your soulmate in the most unlikely and most surprising of places and just know it. Of course, the path of true love never did run smooth. Sam might have fallen head over heels in love with Jess, but there is one small problem: Sam has already got a girlfriend, Victoria, who isn’t about to let her man go without a fight.
Having made a connection at the party, a friendship between Sam and Jess soon blossoms. But the more time he spends messaging Jess and chatting to her, the more Sam realises that he wants to be more than friends with her, so he musters up the courage and tells Victoria that he wants to break things off because he has fallen in love with someone else. Naturally, this does not go down well with Victoria who vows to do whatever it takes to make the woman who stole her boyfriend pay for what she did to her. Victoria is determined to pull out all the stops to break Sam and Jess up, but will she succeed in her nefarious plan? Or will she end up inadvertently strengthening the bond between her ex and his new girlfriend?
With Victoria doing everything in her power to ruin their relationship, will Sam and Jess manage to triumph over all the obstacles she is putting in their way? Or is love at first sight simply not enough when it comes to building a long-lasting relationship?
A fun read that tickles the funny bone and will keep readers eagerly turning the pages, Jules Wake has got another winner on her hands with The Spark. A wickedly witty and highly enjoyable tale where the chemistry is electric, the humour delicious and the romance heart-melting, The Spark is a superb page-turner that has got it all: brilliantly drawn characters, intense emotional drama, laugh out loud moments and even a scheming ex-girlfriend readers will not be able to stop themselves from booing.
An uplifting romantic comedy, Jules Wake’s The Spark is not to be missed.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2020What happens when you get “the spark” but the person you have it with is already taken? The story revolves around Jess and Sam who meet at a party, things start off rocky as Sam leads her on throughout the party and at the end he tells her “ oh yeah, I have a girlfriend, let’s be friends.” Cue a few awkward encounters, and then Sam is single and starts dating Jess. Thus begins their very rocky relationship as Sam’s ex Vic has made it her mission to stalk Jess, ruin their dates, and be a general psycho. Jess is feeling absolutely guilty since growing up her own father left her mother for another woman and now Jess feels like she’s the “other woman” in her relationship with Sam. Sam’s family is convinced that Jess is just a phase and that Sam will get back with Vic and just instantly hate and mistreat Jess. Now my biggest issue with this story was Sam. Sam who constantly goes off to comfort his ex and who doesn’t set clear boundaries with his family and ex about how he has moved on and is in a new relationship. Sam was the weakest link in the story for me. I didn’t like him from the get go, and I initially didn’t like Jess either, but she grew on me by the end of the book. All in all, I just didn’t see what Jess saw in Sam, and I just couldn’t find “the spark” in this romance. However, this was a fast and easy read, and if you enjoy really easy romances, I guess that could work for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2021First I would like to thank Author Jules Wake and NetGalley for giving me a free ebook arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Have you ever been to a gathering or a party and are introduced to someone and things just seem to click? Like you feel like you have known them forever? What would you do if that person was already in a relationship? How would you react when they pick you over their long time partner? This book answer all of these questions and more with a realistic story of two people who find that "spark" in one another and decide to see where it will all lead. I really enjoyed this book! The author did a great job creating characters that I believe many readers can relate to especially when it comes to being the new partner in established relationship which are shared with an ex. I loved how honest Sam was with his feelings and chose to do the right things even when it caused riffs in many of the meaningful relationships with his friends and family. I respected Jess for not running Sam's ex down in front of others when there were times she might have be justified to do so. Jess' relationship with her mother was very raw at times, and I appreciated how much Jess was willing to help her mother comes to terms with the past. Victoria was another kettle of fish all together. I could not help but feel a wide range of emotions for her throughout this book. I hope she finds her HEA! Overall, I really liked this book and believe this is a very mature and healthy look at relationships and how the evolve over time as well as how they impact those around us both for the good and bad. I can't wait to read more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
Happened to see this book in the bestsellers list and with so many positive reviews decided to give it a go. The British do humour so well, and whilst it wasn't laugh out loud as promoted, it definitely has wonderfully witty banter and so found myself smiling often throughout. Loved the strength and compassion of the female lead as well as the decency and depth of the male lead. Told only from one point of view but this in no way detracts from the story. It flowed beautifully and was so engaging I had a hard time putting it down. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for well written story with realistic relationship issues and outcomes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Spark
A really great read, with characters you either love, like, want to slap but later feel sorry for.
A book I thoroughly loved reading (oh if real life - men like Sam were really like that)? And yet as you read on, you realise, relationships you've had, situations you been in or heard about, and friendships, seem to feel familiar?
Jess is single, meets Sam (not single) at a family an friends party, sparks fly, fireworks go off. Sam ends his relationship, and thats when you cant put this book down, because you just have to turn the page to see what you could miss out on if you put this book down!
Great author, awesome book with fabulous characters!
A must read A+...

5.0 out of 5 stars A thoughtful real-life romance
I loved this book, which focussed on the fall-out from an ex-girlfriend. The heroine learns about her own shortcomings. It actually made me re-assess my own past, and come to terms with it better.
