I always knew a bullet would take my life. But I never expected it to happen in church.

It’s a statement, too. Pistols don’t need their hammers cocked these days. Everything’s double-action. Kills just as fast with a quick pull of the trigger.
I was in Saint Mark’s, which is just about the biggest cathedral in Portland, Oregon. All the glory of Rome packed into a single sprawling city block east of the river. So big it’s got its own soup kitchen and homeless shelter.
