I really enjoyed this book. I already bought the second one. I loved the writing, the character development and the story. I was surprised how fast paced the book was but still was able to capture all of the characters and the feel of the planet.

First job after graduation. Leaving mundane Earth. What an adventure! Crash landing , destruction, and pain. Fear is rampant. So this book begins, and then there is the mad scientist. Anyway enjoyable book.

This was a very entertaining book. I enjoyed the duality of the main character. The way she managed to adapt to the constant changes thrown at her and the frailty of her was captivating. An excellent read.

Wow, was this book packed with Action! It was Intense. The world building was off the charts good. The description of the various people and Talents were in depth and done really well.
Now lets get into the main character of the book. Zhenna renames herself Tamisan in order to keep her sanity and to recognize her new identity. Clever girl! And so to keep it from being confusing in this review, I'm going to keep calling her Tamisan. I loved how the author really got us into Tamisan's head. *Pun intended* The emotions that she went through were very easy to connect with. And boy, did she have a lot of emotions to go through as her adventures continued.
Darion is someone who adds so much to the story. BUT, I'm not going to ruin it by saying who he is and how he adds to the story. Just read it like I did and enjoy the ride.
About the time I would slowly begin to relax in the story and Tamisan's safety..bam, more danger. And off we would go again.
The good news is that there will be a H.E.A. for Tamisan but as you can tell it won't be an easy road.
I think I will go lay down now for a nap and recover from that really good roller coaster ride. I have to keep my energy up because it looks like there will be at least another book with the further adventures of Tamisan. Bring it on!!

I received this title as an advanced reading copy.

The story itself is pretty good. There were little things in it that were just ‘off’. Tamisan flips out when she was told that she had at one point died. Even today, dying on the table or during transport and being resuscitated is not that unusual. So a far advanced, far future setting, should have even better resuscitation procedures when needed. This makes Tamisan’s freak out over this seem strange and out of place. She had more significant things about which to be freaking out.

There are a few places where it seems like the author realized she needed to explain something she left out. But rather than reworking the area where it ought to have gone, it is just plopped down where she realized she had left it out. For example, event A occurs. A few scenes happened between the follow up to event A. The author seems to realize she should have explained something about the situation in event A as the follow up scene functions as if that is known to the reader. So instead of going back to the scene to work that fact into the scene, an awkward, after the fact, explanation is provided after the follow up scene. Like someone telling a joke, getting to the punch line, and realizing they left off part of the joke that makes it all come together.

Aside from some minor organizational issues, the story is good, the characters good. The language makes the characters come across as a little more juvenile than I would like, even for a YA novel. But the content doesn’t shy away from adult issues, it faces them without crossing a line that takes it out of YA. This is perhaps closer to the YA science fiction books I loved when I was young than anything I’ve read in a long time. So despite some awkwardness that might have brought it down to a 3 star I will give it a 4 star.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's a good story from a first person's point of view. Just not for me.

1st things 1st.... this is NOT a negative feed, just my own opion.
I was read the story for about four chapters,I was actually drawn into the story and then was starting to see that it was more like a first person doco biography type of story. The author stretches the scenes out a bit too long to really hold great interest. Takes a long time to get the action going, when it does get going, it's very brief. I was actually falling asleep in some parts of the later charpters.
As I said, the story is good, just a little bit too slow and drawn out before getting into the actions and suspense and then that is just too quick. I know others will click into the story. Just not for me. All the best
