4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 239 ratings

Alys Dewitt’s sister is getting married. Lucky for her she gets to be the maid of honor in a Regency themed wedding at an actual Ducal estate in England. While attending the wedding, she falls through a time hole and wakes up in 1815. Everything is strange, wondrous, not at all as she expected it to be. James Kendall, the Duke of Weston returns from war to find an injured woman on his estate. She mumbles strange phrases and keeps calling him by another name. Thinking her a bit mad from her wounds, he takes her to the manor and calls for a doctor. Will they give into their mutual desires, or will Alys find a way back to her own time?

I loved this story. It is one of those stories that is just long enough to hit all the right spots for me. Could it have been longer and in further detail? Sure, but here lately all the books that I have been reading have one character or or another going back and forth in the "do I love them or do I not" face. To me that gets just a little boring after a while. This story doesn't end on a cliffhanger; but it does leaving you wanting to find out what happened in the future with Alys family and if they ever found out what happened to her. The author could have put in more details about James past, but she put in just enough for you to get an understand of his personality and what he has been through.

The story starts out with Alys being the bride's maid at her sisters wedding. Regina is a really spoiled young woman as her parents really did dote on her, where as they didn't to that so much she Alys. Alys was the one that took care of everyone though, helping them in their little crisis. I really liked her personality. She was always there for her family but when push came to shove and she had been pushed beyond her limits she would let a person know about it. She had to learn to be strong in the way having gone through medical school, and internship and dealing in a medical area that was dementated by men. But she long to find try love and every man that she had come across always fell short of what she was looking for.

Her sister is having her wedding at her husbands step brothers manor in England. She discovers that Bradford is not the type of guy that she had hoped that he would be, and after the wedding she went for a walk to get away from everyone for a while. This is the only part that is a little vague and that is how she fell into the past, but the book really does take off from there for me with James finding her at the base of the cliffs on the beach.

Everything from her on out goes rather quickly and at times it even had me chuckling. It was a great read for me as two people were discovering what love really meant to them and what they were prepared to do to keep it.

Five stars, good book.. Little short, Alys and James fell in love so fast.. Some characters in the story were not explained, left wondering about their part.. Little drama, compassion and a lot of sarcasm.. Too much . Good ending

This was a different kind of story. Some things I really liked and some parts are just ok. It was a different ending.

Alys, a young surgeon finishing her residency, escapes her sister's wedding and travels back in time. Alys is the daughter of the hero in Book 1.
Good story. Narration is excellent and much better than in book 1.

This is amusing and romantic. James is bold, impulsive and determined. Alys is stubborn, snarky and brave. When Alys finds herself in the past, she know if she can bear to be just a wife and mother, instead of the surgeon she had been going training to be. There was something about James that drew her, besides the lust that was hot between them, and he felt the same. He wants for them to marry immediately, to protect her reputation, she wants to think about it, but for them to sleep together while she's thinking about it. It's a battle of wills that drives them both crazy.

The premise was great and the characters weren’t even bad, but there seemed to be gaps, no credible reason for the: to fall in love, it was contrived .
