- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2021It is filled with so much heartbreak as two people get to know each other and do not care for the other much. But it doesn't take all for them to start baiting each other and having a lovely time. There is a war and the two go their separate was only to come back together in the middle of it all having some wonderful times. Something happens that separates them again both having to overcome some major issues. My heart broke for these two and their family as they go through so much.
The narrator did a good job, some editing still needs to be done there are a few places where there are repeating of words. Her character voices are very nice. She give very nice emotions, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. There are no background noise, and no volume changes. She has a lovely normal voice and I really enjoyed listening to her.
What an ending, I do wonder how many times in history things like this happen. The book was put together nicely, with a wonderful plot. There are no fillers and moves fast through the years. I totally loved this audio so much.

Tempting An American Princess by Dawn Brower is book 2 in the series but it can be read as a stand alone - I did, and didn’t feel lost or that I missed anything. I actually didn’t even notice it was a book 2 until I noticed it on the cover half way through.
This is a short & sweet love story about an American & an Englishmen in the early 1900’s (WWI), who start out hardly tolerating each other, and eventually secretly falling for one another. While a quick read, it’s not an extremely rushed rushed romance like you find in too many short stories. And the time lapse that happens between chapters doesn’t seem forced. This is a PG romance novel - no gratuitous violence or sex. While some characters do get intimate, it’s alluded to, not described. Very clean but still romantic in the classic definition.
The narration was pretty good. Nicola F. Delgado does a fine job. An American Southern accent can be tricky, but she reads Brianne like a ‘Gone with the Wind’ character that is mostly convincing. I believe the narrator is from the UK, so her European accents are pretty realistic to me...an American, for whatever that’s worth.
There were a few repeated lines (editing issues) sprinkled throughout the book, and then quite a few at the end, but no sound issues or anything like that. While it would be ideal to have it cleaned up, it’s tolerable.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2019New York 1911 Brianne was finally in New York and was so excited. As she and her mother and brother exited the train, she ran into a women. Imagine, this one was a large supporter of the Sufferage Movement just as her cousin was in England and they knew each other! Then as she turned to find her mother, she ran into another person. "Brianne glanced up at the man and held in a breath. He was gorgeous. The most handsome male she"d ever had the pleasure of gazing upon."; Thus her first meeting with Lord Julian Kendall. What she didn"t know is that he was a spy for the Crown and on assignment to observe the efforts for the suffragists. He hoped to wrap up quickly now that he saw Brianne seemed associated with them.
This story is a journey of Julian and Brianne which spans two continents as war erupts all around. The author did a wonderful job of setting the scenes with descriptions you could almost see. A well rounded story that brought this time alive with the characters making their way to their happy ending. Enjoyable!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2019This is the first romance I have read about the suffragist movement. It was quite different from what I usually read and I really did not find it that interesting. It was okay though.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2019I thoroughly enjoyed this WW1 saga with great characters, romance and intrigue. She was a spoiled socialite from.South Carolina who.wanted to go.to.NYC for more activities. She was disappointed but met a friend of her brother who was a file's son. Over the years they fell for each other, but the war separated them. Then.there was an accident and each thought the other died. A chance occurrence brought them back.together and he got a surprise. The ending was great. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy from Booksprout.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2019I wasn't really able to get into this book as much as I would like. It was difficult to connect with the characters. Brianne was spoiled and a big pain, it wasn't till almost the end that I felt she grew up a bit. Julian was arrogant and not in a good way. Their romance was choppy, and didn't bloom entirely in front of the reader. Maybe this style or writing really wasn't my thing, I dont know, but I most likely wouldn't read anything else in this series.
The audio performance by Nicola Delgado was well done. I felt that her accenting had more of an english vibe than aristocratic/upper crust but it came and went a bit. I look forward to listening to another narration by her.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2019This is an interesting wartime romance that takes place over years. I do like the way they corresponded and fell for each other through letters and how with everything going on in the world at that time they felt they would never be together. These two go through so much in this story and the way their story ended was perfect. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
