About this ebook
She loves everything about Christmas. He's more bah humbug about the season. Will sparks fly when the elf in charge of illuminations and the electrician connect?
NATASHA
I love Christmas in California. I love the fake snow, the eggnog, the music, but I especially love the lights. The more the merrier being my mantra with illuminations. This year I might have gone a teensy bit overboard. I think it was life-sized reindeer that pushed me over the edge.
Lucian Davis sure as heck isn't happy about my design choice, mind you, he's never happy. Nope, he's grumpy with a capital G. It's a good thing he's also G for gorgeous. However, on stepping in to help me with my reindeer issue, he's way beyond grumpy, he's furious.
LUCIAN
I don't get the appeal. To me, Christmas is just another day, one where I'll get more call-outs than usual. What is it about folks overloading their electrical panels at this time of year? One house last year had enough lights that it would have been visible from space, if not for them blowing all the fuses.
On seeing Natasha Frank skating around on the roof of the Coogan's Break Welcome Center, I come close to blowing a fuse of my own. This is thanks to her elf costume highlighting all her good bits—and trust me, I'd know—and her about to hurt herself if I don't step in.
If you're short on time but long for romance, you'll love this series of steamy, curvy girl, opposites attract romances. They can be read in any order you choose, there's a guaranteed HEA with no cheating, and no cliffhangers.

LUCIAN
At first I think I'm imagining things. But, nope, there it is again. The shop's lights definitely flickered and I know I'm not responsible.
I also know, having worked as an electrician for ten years, that whatever's causing it, it's nothing to do with the shop's wiring system.
How do I know? Because I was the one who installed it, and I know it's up to code, and possibly beyond. As suddenly as the flickering had started, it stops.
After making a mental note to follow up on it, I get back to work. It's the end of the day, and I'd rather finish up now than return in the morning.
And then the lights flicker again, something that has me grabbing my phone to see if there are any alerts from the utility company. There's nothing.
I haven't had time to put my phone away when the lights flicker again. This has me opening the Main Street Facebook page, and sure enough, the feed is full of shop owners moaning about the problem.
Damn it, I can't just ignore this. That's not how I roll. As I stow my tools, the enamel on my teeth is in danger of being cracked, with the tic in my jaw off the charts.
There are a lot of things that annoy me this time of year. Number one is people overloading their electrical panels with Christmas lights, although I doubt that's what is causing an issue this wide spread.
What is it about some folks that they need their illuminations to be spectacular enough we could see them from space? I don't get it. Actually, I don't understand the fascination with Christmas at all. To me, it's just another day of the year.
I'm shutting my toolbox when Callum, the owner of the store, joins me in the storeroom. Is that you messing with the lights?
As if to back-up his accusation, they flicker again.
It's not. I'm off to check and see if I can find out what's causing it. I'll have to finish installing these outlets in the morning.
His annoyance is now more than a match to my own, and I don't blame him. Sorry, but if it's something major, then I don't want to risk frying your wiring.
As tempting as it is to add Or myself
, I remain close lipped.
After a moment's hesitation, when I expect him to tell me to carry on, he backs down. It's just as well, because once I've made my mind up, I rarely change it.
Out on the sidewalk, I amble along, trying to discern if there's a rhythm to the flickering, but there isn't. It's random, with the gaps never the same. Sometimes short, sometimes long. The same is true of the length the flickering lasts. Whatever it is, it's arbitrary.
Five minutes later and I spot something—make that someone—that might be responsible. As arresting as the sight is, my steps slow of their own volition, to the point I stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk.
It's as well there wasn't anyone behind me, because I'm not going anywhere. I couldn't move if I tried. The same isn't true of the gorgeous elf currently skating around on the roof of the Coogan's Break Welcome Center.
What the hell is Natasha Frank doing up there, and in conditions like these? When the fog is heavy like it is today, it leaves everything slightly damp, especially roof tiles, like those she's currently slipping and sliding across.
It's when I see where she's heading that I move. And I don't just move, I run. If she touches the lights wrapped around that reindeer, she'll likely kill herself.
While string lights are usually safe, when they're wrapped around a metal reindeer that's touching overhead lines, it's a different matter. A potentially lethal one.
As I run, I yell her name, eventually getting her attention. After giving me a cheery wave, she continues slipping and sliding across the roof, her eyes locked on her target.
Natasha, stop!
I bellow this last at such a volume that she freezes. She's dangerously close to a reindeer with enough volts running through it that, if it wanted to, it could pull a sleigh.
She still hasn't moved when I arrive in front of the welcome center. Do not touch that reindeer, it's live!
Rather than show concern, she laughs, with the bright cheerful notes warming me as always. Don't be silly, it's not alive, it's made of metal. See…
She slip-slides forward and reaches out as if to give the monster decoration a pat on the rump. The only thing that saves her from being electrocuted is her feet flying out from under her.
She's not safe yet though, sliding down the angled roof in my direction and gaining speed with every second. A couple of steps forward and I brace myself, ready to catch her.
It doesn't matter that she's around five-foot-eight and blessed with curves that I'd be all over if I was brave enough. At six-foot-six, and built like a tank, I'm more than capable of catching the bubbly redhead, and having fun while I'm about it.
As she shoots over the edge of the roof, her screams fill the air, coming to an abrupt stop when she lands safely in my arms. My relief that she's unhurt is enough to have me squeezing her tight before kissing her like my life depends on it.
A moment's hesitation and she returns the kiss, my cock twitching in approval. The only thing I'm unsure of is whether her enthusiasm is down to me having saved her life or something else entirely.
My cock seems to think it's more than gratitude.

Lucian's lips move over mine with a mastery that has my toes curling as much as those of the bright red boots that complete my elf costume. It's as if I'm still in freefall. My entire world focused on how amazing his lips feel against mine.
Roof? What roof?
It doesn't matter that he's only kissing me because he's relieved he stopped me from being hurt. I obviously need reminding we're on friendly terms and nothing more. Yet he electrifies me, with it this way from the first time he called at the welcome center to change a bulb in the foyer chandelier.
It was by chance I discovered if I turned the lighting feature on and off rapidly, I could blow at least two bulbs on cue. It was also amazing how often that happened.
As he cradles me in his arms while continuing to kiss me, I marvel at how easily he'd caught me. I've never been one of those girls that guys pick up and swing around. And to be honest, none of the guys in my life to date have been capable. But Lucian is capable, and then some, with him showing no signs of needing to set me down.
I've just decided I can live with that, when I hear a discrete cough from nearby. It must be something Lucian hears, too. But, rather than end our kiss as I'm expecting, he instead takes a step back to get us out of the middle of the sidewalk.
Unfortunately, it's one that also sees us sprawled in a heap between two parked cars.
