      Derek, you dick! How could you do that to me?

      My sister comes barging back into our apartment, slamming the door shut behind her. Her fists stay fixated at her sides, and her deadly glare is throwing daggers right at me. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: if looks could kill, she would have had me dead back when we were both swimming around our mother’s womb, probably for taking up most of the space in there.

      I want to laugh. But I know better than to test a woman when she’s angry with me. And trust me, I’ve had my share of angry women. It’s not cute.

      I cover my mouth to muffle the laugh that I can no longer contain. I’m sorry, but looking at her short ass all upset with me is freaking comical as hell.

      Her eyes widen and then she gasps. Oh, you think this is funny, Derek? Picking up the first item she can find—the TV remote to her left—she pulls her arm back and then flings it my way. It misses, but just barely.

      Aww, c’mon, Laur. The guy was a jerk. It was written all over his face. Plus, everyone knows he is. You should be thanking me.

      She takes a step forward, crossing her arms across her chest. "Thanking you? Thanking you? Why the hell would I wanna be thanking you?! You totally ruined my date with Andy."

      I rise from the couch and walk to the kitchen, which borders the living room. He was only here to get into your pants. I open the refrigerator and pull out a bottle of beer. After closing the door, I turn around and lean against it, opening the bottle and taking my first sip. The cool liquid slides down my throat, feeling amazing. I take a peek over at Lauren, and she’s still looking at me like I’m the worst person who ever walked the face of the earth.
