Having never read anything from Lisa Phillips, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book she co-wrote with Megan Besing for Sunrise Publishing. I am a big fan of Sunrise and this series did not disappoint. The nonstop action and high stakes suspense was so well done and kept me reading. The characters were well written and fleshed out. The romance was believable and not rushed. Faith aspects were woven throughout.

Highly recommend this adrenaline-pumping Christian romantic suspense novel that can be read as a standalone although it’s part of a series! You will want to go back and read the first book and I definitely can’t wait to read what comes next!

Distressed relationships, grief, loss, danger coming from all sides, and love, hope, and faith to keep everyone grounded... what's not to love?!?! The characters deal with their own burdens of misplaced fault/guilt, lack of forgiveness, need for control, and more, and find the answer is their relationship with Jesus.
The plot twists and turns kept me guessing... I always love unexpected endings!♡

This was a really good book full of danger and suspense. The story deals with a fire station team who are dealing with the loss of one of their own while adjusting to a new Fire Chief who is there on a trial basis. A therapist is brought in to evaluate the teams and help them cope with the loss while still maintaining the ability to respond to calls. The therapist is veteran Natalie Atkinson who they recently rescued from a fire. Mason James is the new Fire Chief and he has his hands full. Plus there is a romantic interest between the Chief and Natalie which prompts a tension of how ethical it would be for a therapist to fall for a person she is treating. The banter keeps the book lighthearted which is helpful to get through dealing with so many traumas.
