Sanguisuge Book 3 - Sharon Lopez
Chapter 1
Micah lunged at me, but this time I was ready for him. I dodged out of the way easily.
I bounced on my toes. You couldn’t possibly think I’d want anything to do with you, especially after you killed my mother.
His shoulders slumped. I was honest when I said I didn’t want anything to happen to your mother. I loved her, Trinity. When she came into the room she came after me. Celia panicked and then her in instincts kicked in.
I froze in place. My eyes widened and I swallowed hard. Are you saying Celia killed my mother?
His brows knitted and he nodded his head. I tried to stop her. I couldn’t pull Celia away in time.
I clenched my fist at my side. Then her death was too swift.
His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. So, the daggers...
You know the answer all too well.
Micah touched his face. The cut had healed but obviously, the mental scar had not.
His lips drew back in a snarl Leave it to a Scion to get her hands on the only weapon that can kill a vampire.
My lips turned up into a smile and I raised my brows. Thanks to my mother.
Micah’s jaw dropped. He was taken aback by my words and then he shook his head. No, Sara would never—
My brows rose as I nodded my head. I promise you she did. She left instructions for them to be given to me on my birthday.
Micah fell to one knee and then sat down on the ground. Did she really fear me so much?
I shrugged my shoulders and shifted from one foot to the other. She did tell me you were dangerous.
Micah glanced up at me. How could you remember that you were just a child?
She appeared to me in a dream. She told me that I needed to stay as far away from you as I could. She wanted me to promise not to go after you.
Micah hung his head.
I raised an eyebrow. So, are you going to go in peacefully or—
Micah held his arms out in front of him. His gaze was still on the ground. Something felt off. Would he give in that easily? I did the only thing I knew to do.
Ethan!
Ethan was standing beside me in seconds. A few moments later Tharious stood in front of us. Tharious hauled Micah up to his feet and placed a set of cuffs on his hands and ankles. They were silver with weird symbols on them.
I peered at the cuffs and then glanced at Tharious. What are the symbols on the cuffs?
They are enchantments from the elders. They weaken vampires so they cannot put up a fight.
I raised a brow. How are you able to—
Tharious held up his hands. Gloves.
I turned to Micah. That’s it? You aren’t going to put up a fight?
I’d rather face Finn and Augustus than to be executed right here.
Ethan and I glanced at each other. I thought this was way too easy.
Tharious drove while Ethan and I sat in back on either side of Micah. Micah continued to face downward and he did not speak. We drove onto the clan property and Dad was waiting with Donall and Grandpa. All three wore worried expressions.
✽✽✽
Dad clutched me and pulled me into a hug. Are you alright?
I gave a thumbs up. Totally fine.
Dad looked me over and then smiled. Donall and Grandpa both hugged me and then everyone turned to Face Ethan. Ethan was standing hunched over and he was taking Micah out of the vehicle.
I peered at Dad. We’ll have to hold a Session.
Why?
I snapped my band a few times. Micah says he didn’t kill mom.
I heard two simultaneous growls. Grandpa and Dad watched on as Ethan led Micah inside.
✽✽✽
Ethan took Micah into the meeting room and Micah sat in a chair. The room was full of tension. Everyone was staring at Micah. Micah was still staring at the floor.
I want Micah tried at the Remar clan house,
Ethan said breaking the uncomfortable silence.
Dad shook his head violently. No! No way! I waited far too long to—
And do you think I will not hold him accountable for his crimes? He tried to murder my intended...twice!
Ethan held up two fingers.
Micah raised his head and looked at Ethan curiously. Ethan turned his gaze down toward his father. Micah’s face twisted into a plethora of emotions I could not read.
You’ve changed?
Micah’s eyes found mine. You turned him? How?
Ethan stepped closer to me. She did nothing.
Micah’s forehead furrowed. There is no Scion blood in our family.
Ethan’s eyebrows rose. What about in my mother’s?
Micah’s face twisted into a look of disgust. I would never bed a Scion.
I pursed my lips. No, you just try to kill them or flirt with them.
Ethan glanced at me and I saw the anger build. He yanked Micah out of his chair by his shirt. You don’t even look in her direction ever again! Got it!
Micah smirked. So now you’ve joined? What happened to we’re just friends?
Ethan balled his fist, but I was next to him in a flash. I tore Micah from Ethan’s grasp and moved him to another chair.
Ethan’s eyes burned with rage. You will not speak of my Fiancé that way!
Ethan, he is just trying to get a rise out of you.
Yes, Ethan listen to your intended. I see who wears the pants.
I turned to Micah and slapped his face. He laughed until I pulled out my dagger.
Just because I brought you here does not mean I will not end you here.
Micah’s eyes grew wide before he dropped his gaze from me.
I held up a hand. Obviously, everyone wants to have Micah tried at their clan house. I happen to agree that he should be held at the Remar house.
Dad folded his arms over his chest. Of course, you would.
Dad, look, I get you’re pissed off but if you’ll listen for a moment I will explain.
Dad dropped his arms and his brow rose. He was stunned by my tone.
Everyone at your or Donall’s house wants him dead. Though you don’t hold control over the means in which to do it, I know he will be tortured nonetheless.
Dad opened his mouth to protest, but I held up my
