About this ebook
When eighteen-year-old Hunter Jackson and his half sister, Ashlin, return to their dad's for the first winter in years, they expect everything to be just like the warmer months they'd spent there as kids. And it is—at first. But Chance, the charismatic and adventurous boy who made their summers epic, is harboring deep secrets. Secrets that are quickly spiraling into something else entirely.
The reason they've never met Chance's parents or seen his home is becoming clearer. And what the siblings used to think of as Chance's quirks—the outrageous stories, his clinginess, his dangerous impulsiveness—are now warning signs that something is seriously off.
Then someone turns up with a bullet to the head, and all eyes shift to Chance's family. Hunter and Ashlin know Chance is innocent...they just have to prove it. But how can they protect the boy they both love when they can't trust a word Chance says?

...and by interesting, I mean I might want to throw myself out of a moving vehicle by the time she leaves. p. 64
Siblings, Hunger and Ashlin, have been best friends with Chance for years, but when they finally get a real glimpse of his life, they question everything they thought was true.
It took me quite a while to read this book because so much made me tense as I was reading it, and I had to keep taking a break. I became emotionally involved with Hunter, Ashlin, and Chance that I hurt for them.
Things that kept me in the story:
*Characters – well drawn, understandable
*Mystery of Chance’s life
*Writing--beautiful descriptions
*Unconventional storyline (sort of – we have a rather large section of “child abuse fiction” in my library)
Things that kicked me out of the story:
*Wondering when the murder (the one on the book jacket) was going to happen
*Hunter’s indecision about his girlfriend
*Writing – had to look at the chapter headings to know who was “Talking.” Hunter and Ashlin’s “Voices” were too similar. The context always helped but I certainly needed the headings.
*The ending:
#Getting to the end and realizing what I thought was more book, was just previews for two more books – Ugh! Frustrating.
#Not a satisfying ending for me at all. I don’t need an HEA all the time, but I do need/want what I feel is a real resolution.
Made of Stars is a dark story, not a light summer read. But, once again, I find myself glad I read Kelley York’s book. I’ll keep looking for this author’s stuff, when I want something out of the ordinary.

I can't. I simply can't handle this right now.
When I first got this book I was so effing excited. Then I got to the last chapter - who couldn't be excited? It was a chapter finally in Chance's POV.
I thought it was going to be amazing and romantic with a happy ending but it made me cry. York, I hate you for making me love this book with such a sad ending. I mean c'mon.
This should've been the ending:
Chance and Hunter kissed and lived happily ever after with Zeke in jail.
BUT NO.
CHANCE JUST EFFING LEAVES HUNTER BEHIND AND STARTS A NEW LIFE ON HIS OWN LIKE WTF.
There should be an epi-epilogue ( do those exist? ). Like Hunter meets Chance by well....Chance and then they officially live happily ever after - together like how it should be.
That ending would satisfy my taste of cheesy romance and it would make me a happy girl.
But aside form all this, the story is still amazing. Sadly? This is the only book by Kelley York any of the public libraries own "orz - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

A moving YA suspense-mystery with some dark themes. The novel is fast-paced and switches between two POVs. Although the story flows well throughout most of the book, the ending is abrupt and doesn't offer closure. Overall, a good novel to promote conversations about some serious themes.Net Galley Feedback
