The Seventy-Four Calls
W hat do you think?
says J, Do childhood loves really last forever?
Who knows...
says Arcana. Why did you ask all of a sudden?
J stays silent while preserving her stoic attitude.
Anyway,
says Arcana. It’s amazing to see you again, gal!
Arcana puts her hand on J’s shoulder. These two friends used to be schoolmates and live in the same neighborhood. After school J’s family moved back to Japan because of her parents’ job. J came to stay with her granny for the summer.
The most prominent thing about these friends is that they didn’t stop to wear visual kei inspired clothes. Arcana’s real name is Aytan. J’s nickname comes from her real name Juriko. Her father is a japanese with the surname of Matsuya, and her mother is a turkic.
J IS A YOUNG LAWYER now. Her granny owns a little restaurant on their street. J visits it time by time while taking a glimpse of the look at the veterinary right in front of the place. If to be more correct, to the veterinary woman. J runs away before the woman sees her. It was her neighborhood friend Yaghmur.
AFTER THE LONG WORKDAY, Yaghmur stays to eat at the restaurant. She falls asleep outside while eating. J who is observing her aside all of this time covers her with a blanket.
J runs away from the talk with Yaghmur. She used to have a crush on her but could not open up. She waited till the night before she left for Japan. She finally could open up, but Yaghmur’s silence and shocked eyes scared her away.
Yaghmur only found out about J’s move to Japan a couple of days later. She called her several times. But J would not answer her. So, Yaghmur stopped calling at the fifty-seventh try.
