About this ebook

This year Santa is getting a Christmas present…a brand new mate!

Tony is transitioning back to civilian life after twenty years in the military and trying to figure out his next steps. When his mom signs him up to play Santa at Greysden's annual holiday festival, he's not happy about it.  After so many years away from his family, he's lost his love of the holiday, and the last thing the grumpy wolf wants to do is spread Christmas cheer.

Marissa just moved to town, looking for a fresh start to heal her broken heart.  When a growly Santa tracks her down and says he's her fated mate, she wonders if he's got some kind of brain injury.  Humans don't turn into wolves, right?

Even crazier…falling in love with someone she just met.  But is it real? Or just a Christmas romance?

    Dedication

For everyone who believes in love at first sight – or love at first bite.

    Tony

I signed you up to play Santa next week.

I choked on my coffee at my mother’s words.  What now?

You’re playing Santa at the Greysden annual Holiday Festival.  The usual Santa had to go out of town at the last minute, so I told them you would be happy to fill in so the children wouldn’t be disappointed.

Yep, that still didn’t make sense.  I walked over to refill my coffee cup and give myself a moment to think before I responded.

I’m not doing that, Ma. Forget it.

The sweet little woman who gave birth to me smacked me on the back of my head.  Hard.

Don’t you talk back to me, Anthony Dean Capetti.  It’s already been decided.  Your costume is in the hall closet.  They’ll be expecting you at the Greysden Community Center tomorrow at noon.  It’s noon to eight for five days, plus the lighting of the Christmas tree in the town square Friday night.

    I hate Christmas.

Exactly.  That’s why you have to do it.

    Huh?

You need to get your Christmas spirit back, and this will help you do that.  And it’s a damn sight better than you moping around here like you’ve done for the last month.

Moping? I asked incredulously.  You’ve had me working on one project or another the entire time I’ve been here. I haven’t had time to mope.

You’re staying here rent free, she reminded me.

I stifled a growl of annoyance.

That’s because you insisted, Ma.  I was going to stay with one of my brothers, but you were all like, oh Anthony, I made my voice higher, imitating her.  You need your mother to help you transition back to civilian life, and I’ve missed you so much and I want you to stay with me so I can cook for you.

That’s all true, and it’s also true that you’ve been mopey and at loose ends since you got discharged from the Army.  Playing Santa will be good for you. It will help you remember how much fun Christmas was when you were a kid. I don’t know what happened to make you hate Christmas but seeing the excitement of kids on the holiday will be good for you.

"What happened is I’ve spent the last twenty years in the middle of the desert fighting for our country, including every single Christmas since I enlisted. It’s hard
