Saving Souls (Gifted Anomalies Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 53 ratings

Soulweaving is a rare art form and one that Zahra excels in.

While the gifted rejoice at Clayton Holsen's death, Dr. Zahra Deas, psychiatrist extraordinaire, curses the man out. A group of gifted who were under his control are sent to her. They need healing and as a soulweaver, Zahra is their best chance.

Zahra is more than willing to help Holsen's victims. The problem is that attached to her new patients is also a group of guards who refuse to leave. They're determined to remain there until the end, even if that means leaving her with no personal space. But that's fine. Let them stick around. Zahra has other issues to deal with.

Someone wants a piece of Holsen's empire, and that piece just so happens to be in her care. Will Zahra and her new friends be able to keep the patients safe? Or will she finally learn what it feels like to be them, hunted for the gifts they have?

A/N: Gifted Anomalies is a series that will follow four different women through a journey of love, politics, and dangers. Each book in the series will be in the viewpoint of one of the women, with each woman starring in multiple books until their full stories are unfolded. Will you take this tremulous adventure with them?

My name is Jaliza Burwell and I'm a writer.

Okay, okay, more information. I love writing about fantastical worlds and the people who live in them. Once in a while, I'll toss in some contemporary to keep things real.

I am a proud auntie of seven: three nieces, three nephews, and one wily cat. I'm also that annoying roommate who doesn't know how to shut up. When I'm not harassing my family or friends, you can find me reading or walking around aimlessly, pretending to contemplate about life.

I hold a B.A. in English Creative Writing with a minor in chemistry, just because I could. I also have a M.A. in Publishing and Writing. With all that in my background, I like to think I know things, when really I don't.

What do I write? Fantasy. All things fantasy! With romance, and men. Lots of men, because why not?

Book 2 is pretty different with its FMC, with a FF relationship, which I'll be honest usually doesn't interest me. But, Jaliza writes the relationships so well, I was invested in the book from the start!

Saving Souls picks up shortly after the epilogue of Fate Foretold. Zahra is preparing to take in 4 new clients at her psych facility for the gifted, plus their 6 guards. Zahra is attracted to three of them - Raid, Jur, and Peyton. (this is a FFMM story) I don’t read a lot of stories with FF, but Zahra’s story sucked me in. This is a slow burn story. I liked that they were all learning each other slowly. I liked Zahra, and hurt for her when one of her people throws something back at her. The ending is hard, and I was glad to see that Zahra and her people will have two more books, so we can see them get closer. I like how Burwell is writing this series chronologically so we are seeing the different FMC’s but the over arcing story makes sense, and the characters are showing up in a way that makes sense and not just a “see me” visit. I can’t wait to revisit Hannah and see where her story goes!

This is a good book to read. If you want to read a book that delves a little deeper into the feelings for people and to learn more about the main character then you need to read this book. You will meet Zahra who is a doctor for the gifted and she is gifted too. I will say that this book makes you evaluate relationships and really makes you think of what you really want. In this case I do not think that Zahra knew what would be in store for her when she meets Raid, Jur and Peyton. So get ready for an exciting ride. There is chemistry with her and Raids team. It is all so up and down. You will never know what will happen until it happens. So will she remain alone or will the team realize that she needs them. Will she find love? You will need to read to find out what happens. I cannot wait to see what will happen nexgt.

So much of whay Zahra did was at apersonal cost. No one really understood what she went through to help other people. Needless to say she is a selfless character who tries to help people and takes on their pain. She has suffered a lot but doesn't let it stop her from doing whay is right. I loved that we got to see Adalyn. I love books where we get to see characters from the previous. The stories are all interconnected.

Love this series! Even though it doesn't follow the exact same characters the story intertwines with book one characters beautifully! I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants something different.
