    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This ebook was written for the soloist that wants to produce and record his own music performing all tracks himself.

I am a guitarist / musician and I record my own music for personal use. I perform as a solo/vocal guitarist and play in several larger bands as well from time to time. I am not a commercial recording artist or a popular musician or well known nationally. I am just an ordinary working musician, but after recording music in my studio for over 35 years and performing live music for over 40 years I have gained a vast amount of self taught knowledge about recording instruments and vocals.

I have taken a whole host of courses over the years. Although they did not offer certificates  I do have a certificate from MWM Music Production School.

The certificate is posted on my about me page at http://www.davidwaynerecording.com

I have moved from the days of 4 track tape to digital so I have knowledge from both ends of analog recording as well as digital recording. The days of tape recording production helped me understand a whole lot about audio recording. I have merged the knowledge of both tape and digital methods. I will admit it took me several years to merge to digital. In doing so I have found that the difference is so slight these days that I am quite surprised and happy with the conversion. In the beginning digital wasn't too impressive to me but as time went by technology grew with leaps and bounds and so did I.

The sound in the last 15 years especially has convinced me that digital recording is here to stay. Not to mention how smooth and easy it is to edit after recordings. I am sure someone is tucked away in some little small studio and is dead set on remaining a tape junkie, but I believe most have made the leap to digital these days. I do run into some friends that won't take the plunge from tape to digital.

I have helped many musicians over the years and decided to produce this ebook to help others get started recording their own music. I have taken many online courses but my best knowledge comes from the school of hard knocks of trial and error. ( Lots of Personal Reading, lots of videos, and lost of articles). Before the days of the internet I spent hours in my local library. You are blessed with the internet one click away to a sea of information within seconds.

I want to share what I have learned about home recording with you in this ebook. Hopefully I can write more specific books on compression, modulation, effects etc. in the future.

In this step by step book I will take you through the very basics of recording from start to end but most of all I will give a whole lot of tips on keeping organized and well planned when starting a project. Most ebooks I have read do not stress the importance of keeping things organized. I learned that being organized is probably the most important thing an engineer can do. Keep your project organized.

As you read this ebook on home recording keep in mind that this is an ebook on just the basics. I try to give you everything needed to start and produce great work wrapped up neatly in one package. You can refer to it often.

At the time of this ebook I have opened a website. The website is filled with information. It's the start of an online project. I will be making the website a membership website in time with a forum platform. As of now it is free to look around. I will have monthly articles. I plan to have a wealth of information on the site but at the time of this ebook I only have information to support the things in this ebook.
