      Sweat broke out across his forehead as he tried to pull on his boots. He was becoming fat, a glutton who could barely swing up into the saddle as he fed on the chaos. There was so much. It used to require skill. A well placed whisper to about doubt and suspicion. Now he barely left his living room. Mankind did it to themselves without assistance. It no longer had to be a bloodbath. They were ripe for the picking. Had he done his job too well earlier? Was there any reason to ride out when it was already done?

      General Brenik watched as men across the field shifted into horrific creatures with scaly skin and gaping maws. One beast, blood dripping from elongated teeth, raised a woman to his mouth and gorged on her flesh.

      Monsters! the general shouted. Attack!

      They charged, meeting their enemy with a cacophony of clanging steel.

      Nearby, two figures observed the battle.

      Hallucinations, War? Really?

      War, imposing atop his red horse, smiled. The agonised screams were music to his ears. Monsters weren’t real, but blood ran like a river; red was his favourite colour. They were suggesting a truce. A little push was necessary.
