My quest to discover the secrets of health, psychology, spirituality and exercise have brought me to some very effective solutions. Twenty years have passed and I am now a Personal Trainer, Registered holistic Nutritionist and Personal Development Coach. I reveal what I have learned in this complete guide to conquer depression as well as my story. Disclaimer
THIS GUIDE IS NOT INTENDED to replace the advice of a physician, nor is it a claim to treat, heal, or cure depression. It is anecdotal, based on my personal experiences with depression and what has worked to improve my health over the years.
It is not recommended that you discontinue any medications you may have been prescribed, and before accepting any supplements or beginning a new exercise program, it is important to consult your physician.
Chapter 1: Introduction
CONGRATULATIONS ON your decision to take control of your life!
For many people suffering from depression or other ailments, embarking on the journey to better health can be the most difficult part as it tends to seem easier to give up than it does to fight.
This is not true for you; you’re here.
Somewhere inside, you’ve come to the realization that if you don’t take control of your health, the struggles you are fighting will become greater, and you’ve intelligently decided that you don’t want that.
While I can’t promise you that this program will be easy, I can promise you that neglecting your health will make it more difficult to deal with life’s unpredictable stressors.
By taking responsibility for our lifestyle choices, as you are today, no matter how daunting, we develop the resiliency and adaptability required to fulfill our life’s biggest ambitions.
Once you regain control of your mind and body and enter a balanced state, maintaining peace and happiness becomes much, much easier.
Why Choose This Program Over Others?
I’VE PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED, used and re-used the protocols outlined in this book many times, beginning when I was just a teenager through adulthood, including following a sickness and even extreme hangovers. I’ve used the spiritual principles to help me through difficult hardships like divorce, breakups, and the loss of close friends.
It’s important to understand that this program is based on a holistic approach to wellness. By definition, ‘holistic’ means all-encompassing, or, dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part.
If you have been prescribed medications, but are still maintaining poor daily habits such as eating too much junk food, maintaining irregular sleep cycles, lack of direction, limited exercise and negative thought patterns, it’s highly likely you will remain dissatisfied with your life.
This is where a holistic approach to wellness comes in; the protocols work together to create an overall better life experience you can harness to accomplish big life goals, better relationships, and even inspire others by way of example.
THE REAL
CAUSES OF Depression
In my personal experience and observation, I have concluded the following to be the most important t topics when countering depression.
1. Nutritional Deficiencies
Most depressed people have poor gut health where 90% of the serotonin and dopamine (the happy hormones) are produced. Furthermore, many depressed people have low magnesium, zinc, B vitamins and good fats.
2. No Direction, Goals or Accomplishments
Studies show that lack of direction can create mental neuroticism.
3. Isolation and Lack of Support
Get out in the world and meet people; You never know where it’s going to lead.
4. No Movement
Many depressed people don’t take the time to do much physical activity even though exercise is known to create endorphins and happy hormones.
5. Lack of Sunlight
Get outside, or if you have to be inside, try to stay near windows, or be sure to take regular breaks outdoors. The evidence of seasonal affective disorder is clear, but don’t forget, you can get vitamin D (the sunshine
