Ruled: A Bad Boy Biker Romance (Hard Riders MC Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 272 ratings

From New York Times bestselling author Anne Marsh comes a scorching-hot story of opposites attract! Can a rebel claim a princess? They couldn’t be more different, but they share the same burning passion!

Jaxon “Rev” Brady is a proud member of the Hard Riders MC. He’s sworn to protect those living in the vulnerable neighbourhoods of Las Vegas. When a drug cartel infiltrates a rival gang, that means safeguarding Evie Kent, his rival’s beautiful and obstinate sister. Evie, in the flouncy princess dresses she wears for her successful children’s party-planning business, is a sharp contrast to Rev in his motorcycle boots and patched vest.

Evie Kent’s day goes from bad to worse when a brawny, inked bad boy shows up at her client’s event claiming he’s come to protect her. She doesn’t need a bodyguard, and certainly not one who’s a biker…though she does have a thing for black leather.

Their instant attraction is magnetic, and their lust keeps them glued to each other even as a biker war rages around them. But do they really belong together…or is their desire a dangerous distraction?

From Harlequin DARE: Take control. Feel the rush. Explore your fantasies.

“Dare is Harlequin’s hottest line yet. Every book should come with a free fan. I dare you to try them!” —Tiffany Reisz, international bestselling author

Opposites not only attract ... they combust! With the kick off the brand new Harlequin DARE line, Anne Marsh introduces us to the men of the Hard Riders Motorcycle Club. They're rugged and tough, yet loyal to a fault when it comes to their brotherhood. Club enforcer Rev meets his match when he stumbles across Evie Kent. They might be on opposite sides of the situation, but they can agree to disagree when it comes time to enjoy each other's company. A solid plot and cast ... looking forward to more in the series.

She's a good girl just trying to earn a living ... he's a bad boy willing to do anything for his club. When Jaxon "Rev" Brady, the enforcer for the Hard Riders motorcycle club, meets Evie Kent he's not sure what to make of her. Can he really believe she's as sweet and innocent as she comes off, or is it all an act to protect her brother from his wrath? Evie wants nothing to do with the MC life, but she won't stand by and watch her brother be bullied! Rev actually likes her, and he might even want to be with her but when her brother pushes things too far, he won't let his feelings for her get in the way of club business ... no matter what!

Wonderful read with exciting characters and well written plot that kept me glued to the book from the first page all the way to the end. I loved the sizzling chemistry and burning passion between Jaxon (Rev) Brady of the Hard Riders MC and Evie Knight who owns Perfectly Princess Parties. Fans of this genre should plan to read Ruled. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Evie has started her own “princess party” business for children with the help of her silent partner and brother Rocker. Her brother is a member of the Black Dogs MC but Evie detests it as not only is her father in jail because of it but now her brother’s activities have brought trouble to her door.

Rev is ex-military and the enforcer of the Hard Riders MC. He has been tasked with protecting Evie even though she wants nothing to do with a biker no matter how sexy he is.

I like the two characters as Rev is loyal and protective while Evie just wants to keep her brother safe. Their journey is filled with a little drama, some suspense and hot chemistry.

Totally fun characters, where the heroine isn’t a slouch and doormat. She knows the score, and I love her to pieces. Rev is more of a typical biker-SEAL type, rough around the edges, the middle, the bottom...yeah. You get the idea. ;-D

You’ll never be disappointed by this author.

Rev is biker bad boy. Evie girly girl. I love how different they both are. It takes a manly man to pull off driving around in a very pink girly RV. I love the pull between Evie and Rev. Ruled is a quick biker read. I highly enjoyed this one. If you are looking for a biker romance then this is one to check out. Anne Marsh did a great job with this one. Though I did want to smack the crap out of Rocker it was an enjoyable read. I look forward to more of the Hard Riders MC series and Anne Marsh's work

Ruled is a rocky ride across the world of motorcycle clubs, the ties that bind a man to the club and the woman who becomes a part of his life. It's edgy, gritty and dirty.

I have very mixed feelings about Ruled. It's hot as heck and the dirty, sexy times between Rev and Evie will burn up the sheets. However, it's also filled with rough edges and frustration, and it's not very romantic. I supposed it's unreasonable for me to expect a hard-edged biker to have a softer side and get all romantic but the romantic in me wants that. Even when Rev is declaring his feelings for Evie, it's not very romantic. It's more of a take it or leave it kind of a situation. I would have liked it more emotional and mushy but that's just me.

I liked Rev. He's the Hard Riders MC's enforcer and he fixes problems. Evie's brother is a problem and that lands Evie in his sights. In all his dealings with Evie, he shoots straight. He's honest and truthful, and he does not hide who he is, what he does or where his loyalties lie. He's also rough around the edges and tough as heck. There isn't a gentle bone in his body but he's loyal, honorable and protective.

Evie was a difficult heroine for me to like. She liked her rules a little too much and she was also tough and unbending. I guess you need a spine of steel to deal with someone like Rev on equal footing or you'd get run over by him. She certainly held her own with him. I admired her for that but I didn't like the way she blinded about her brother and how that jeopardised her relationship with Rev. I understand unconditional love for family but I think she was very naive about her brother even when the evidence was right before her eyes. At least she finally came to her senses about her brother and about Rev but by then I was already majorly annoyed with her so even though she did something to redeem herself, I was not feeling too kindly towards her.

Although I enjoyed the story, I'm not sure if the whole MC world is for me. I love a tough, protective hero but I want them with a softer side to them. These MC heroes seem to be just all toughness with no softness. Vik's story is next and he's an interesting character. I might dip my toe back into the MC world for him.

Rev and Eve of ever a unlikely couple. Eve the sister of a rival gang he is watching. Rev the enforcer that will never look for long term. But upon meeting the chemistry is off the charts. There is a lot of back and forth arguing mostly because of her brothers poor choices in the rival gang.
Needless to say they both decide in the end what they want from each other but can it be a forever thang?

3.0 out of 5 stars The Second book in the series is better.

Having read 'Inked' first and really loving it, this story was a bit lacklustre for me. Sure the sex scenes were great but the romance seemed a little forced. Whilst I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book but I would recommend reading Inked if you haven't.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would have liked more of the actual MC story

The first book I have read from this author and yes, I was intrigued to read the new Dare line from Mills and Boon and I have a couple more to read. This was a hot, scorching read! Although I have to say, I would have liked more of the actual MC story, because it was interesting and fell flat at the end and just wrapped up way too neatly in a big bow. Sex scenes shouldn't be everything, especially in a well written novel like this. I'll be reading more from this author for sure though.
