Following That's Just My Baby Daddy! 12 Men Who've Contributed Greatly to Society, which explored aspects of the lives of Archimedes, Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Ctesibius, Heron of Alexandria, Stefan Banic, Chiune Sugihara, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett... She Sells Seashells by the Seashore pays its respects to 12 entrepreneurial women.
It's a celebration of Annie Turnbo Pope Malone, Madam C.J Walker, Olive Ann Beech, Amelia Simmons, Frida Kahlo, Mary Anning, Josephine Baker, Lorraine Hansberry, Hetty Green, Maggie Walker, Mahalia Jackson, and Helena Rubinstein... women who’ve made a lasting impact across science, beauty, banking, aviation, the arts and more.
The title is inspired by Mary Anning, a girl who lived in 1800s England along what is now called the Jurassic Coast. She’s credited with discovering the first complete ichthyosaur fossil and was a self-taught paleontologist. Following the death of her father, Richard Anning, a cabinet maker and fossil collector, Mary Anning would take over the family business. The majority of her finds ended up in museums and personal collections without proper credit being given to her as the discoverer of the fossils.
It’s important to be reminded that women play an important role in the global economy. According to UN Women, globally, over 2.7 billion women are legally restricted from having the same choice of jobs as men, 59 economies have no laws on sexual harassment in
