Hey there! I'm Hayley James. I’m an established romance author who has decided to have some fun writing in a different genre! I hope that you’ll come along with me for this new adventure. I know it’s going to be a sweet, sexy, fun ride… that is, between the pages, at least!

Born in a small farming community, I spent my childhood dreaming up wild stories while playing with my Barbie dolls.

I started my publishing journey in 2015, and I have not stopped. I’ve self-published over ninety books and have several series translated into foreign languages. I am so excited to bring this new-to-me-genre to life!

When I’m not writing, I spend my days being a professional chauffeur for my teenage sons and all of their activities which include robotics, golf, swimming, and music lessons, to name a few!

    This story is so sweet and somehow over the top. Fake couple that turns into a real couple, it is just so sweet. I, at least, enjoyed it really much to read this one. Sports stories can be so fun to read and this one certainly lives up to the sport's theme, and friends theme and couples theme so just enjoy reading it. I enjoyed reading it enough to find it to be very deserving of the fabulous four stars I am giving it here.

    Otto is truly remarkable in every way. He falls in love quickly and intensely. Grace, who has her own family issues, also fell for him. But Otto is a unique kind of man—a knight in shining armor who relies on his own judgment and instincts. It made me love the story even more. Their ending was beautiful.

    This was an awesome book. I enjoyed the fake to real love between the two MCs. It was so realistic. All the drama between the MMC and his parents was outstanding. It gave the book that angsty feeling. All the lies concerning the FMC and the drama surrounding her was intriguing. The ending was so sweet it made you want to reread the whole book. I highly recommend this book to all hockey romance readers.

    Fate on the Ice is book number 2 in the North Carolina Fury series. I have not yet read book one but after reading this one, I will definitely be going back to read it. I really enjoyed this book. It wasn’t a book that was too deep or complicated. It was a nice easy book with a MMC who falls quick and a FMC with hang ups because of her past. I always love a good hockey romance, and this didn’t disappoint. I did feel there were some parts that could have gone deeper and been drawn out more. But it was a good, easy read and I will absolutely be continuing this series.

    I appreciate the MCs. Otto is not complicated. He loves hockey and his family. He loves the sport so much that he teaches lessons in his off time. I also love that it was lust/obsession at first sight of her butt. Never underestimate the power of a good butt. Grace is dealing with some betrayal and trauma that doesn’t make falling easy and she tries to push him away, but she is just as attracted to him. I also really enjoyed seeing the differing backgrounds/family of the two MCs. Their parents are very different and that contrast is something that happens often in relationships.

    One of my favorite things about this book is the fact that Otto plays for an AHL team. I preference this with the fact that I am a lover of all hockey. I am wearing a hockey shirt as I write this. I have been to NHL games, AHL games, and ECHL games. So many hockey stories have the MMC as an NHL player. There is a big difference between those that play in the NHL and those in the AHL. AHL players do things like live in houses with a bunch of guys and teach lessons in their off time. They don’t have the paychecks that NHL players have. I loved this angle because it was something you don’t see often.

    If you are looking for a story super deep, emotional, complicated relationship that goes on a roller coaster for 500 pages, this is not that book. This is a story for those looking for a quick read, two people that fall fast, a relationship that burns bright, and two MCs that have issues but follow the connection that they feel for each other. I really enjoyed it and plan to continue the series.

    This book was so sweet! I just loved Otto and Grace’s story! Although I’ve read this author’s work before, it was under a different pen name, so this was my first Hayley James read. I can truthfully say Hayley can write anything and her alpha men are perfection!!!

    The way Otto stuck up for Grace no questions asked was perfection. I loved him as a MMC immediately. And my poor sweet Grace. She has really been through it with her parents and past relationship. Her father was terrible!!! I was so glad Otto helped her gain the courage and self confidence she needed to really be the woman she was meant to become. Looking forward to catching up on this series!

    This book is a charming love-at-first-sight romance, filled with sweet words and romantic glances that make the love between the characters leap off the pages. It’s undeniably cute and has many endearing moments.

    However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. While there were aspects I really enjoyed, there were also times when it felt like entire chunks of the story were missing, leaving me wanting more depth and development.

    In the end, it’s a good book that I’m glad I read, but I’m not sure it’s one I would revisit for a re-read.

    A new author for me and it looks like I will be going back to read the first two in this series. Brooklynn covets her neighbor Forrest, so when he asks a favor she agrees immediately to be his fake girlfriend. Things quickly heat up between them as they find things becoming real. I loved watching their love journey develop and grow as they face obstacles together. Lovely read.
