Chapter 1 - A Planless Plan
EVER SINCE HE WAS SMALL , Joshua had had a gift. It was a gift that had caused him more pain than he cared to admit, but one that he would never have given up. Surprisingly it had nothing to do with his passion of climbing. However, it had set him in good stead when he had chosen sport as a career, because pain was something he was used to.
His family had discovered it when he had been three. His mum had cut herself on a knife while chopping up a banana for him, and he had reached out his little hand, placed it over the cut and the cut had disappeared from his mother's finger. It had appeared on his own hand, making him cry, but it had healed in under a minute, leaving his mom to clean up the blood and wonder at her extraordinary son.
He had only ever really used the gift on members of his own family and then, only when they let him. It seemed to require a level of emotional connection to work, because he only ever felt the prickling urge to heal when those he cared about were hurting in some way. He’d felt the need with friends occasionally, but usually only for small things.
The injuries always disappeared completely from him, at least on the surface, but they had no idea how
