Supernatural Taskforce Academy: Mission One, Scorpion Blood Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 193 ratings

What does an ex-military, a vampire, a phoenix, a wolf shifter, a fae, and a witch all have in common?
Nothing… other than being handpicked to save the world.
May the Gods save us all.

If someone had told young, ex-Delta Force Ethan James, that supernatural creatures were real, he would have laughed. See to believe was his motto, until one day he was kidnapped by a being that could only exist in dreams… or nightmares. Taken to a place where having extraordinary abilities is the norm, he'll be offered the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Supernatural Taskforce Academy—or STA as it's known—is an elite academy for witches, fae, shifters, vampires, and every other class of supernaturals with exceptional skills. But what the heck does STA want with a human? An ex-soldier at that?

Renna Blackwood doesn’t play nice with others. She might have a mean girl reputation, who snubs her nose at the rules, but with skills like hers, she has rightfully earned every ounce of that reputation. She is a bleeding vampire for God's sake. So, when the council assigns her the task of awakening new members for the academy, Renna isn’t the least bit surprised.

Until she sees who her partner is…

A mortal. With a heartbeat.

Swell. This should be fun.

Supernatural Taskforce Academy is full of magic, mythology, college drama, and romance. Scorpion Blood is the first book in the addicting upper teen fantasy series that will keep you glued to your kindle!
16+ Recommended due to strong language and sexual content.

I must say, I loved this book! It started a little different from a lot of other books I’ve read. The whole army thing was so detailed and accurate that I felt I was there with Scorpion trying to protect the president’s daughter, and I was a little unsure. Like what kind of book is this? It won’t disappoint, soon you’re captured in an amazing world hidden from ours. And I loved the details from our world, like meeting a spider Queen in busy Las Vegas! It’s fun, exiting and a little steamy, all good things in one book!

Stephany Wallace & J.L. Weil come together to give us an action-packed, romantic, fantasy adventure. The NA (new adult) characters are a delightful mix of flirty, snarky, cautious, and young (still finding themselves) with a depth and growth that keeps them from being the irritating and hard to read type. Steeped in varying mythologies and with a unique spin on the academy trope, this first in series is a recommended read.

Supernatural Taskforce Academy (STA) is the training ground for the supernatural best of the best from all worlds (yes plural). This is where we first encounter rule-breaker and vampire, Renna. With a rough past, this girl has an impenetrable wall around herself. Enter Ethan James, aka Scorpion. Not only is he human and former military, but now Renna's partner and team leader for a mission neither were expecting. Things are about to get crazy.

STA: Mission One Scorpion Blood is a good start to a new series. It's told from the dual points of view of Renna and Scorpion. And gives us enough character and world-building to pull you into the story wihout bogging down the pace. My only critique (and the reason for 4 stars) is that it could use some additional editing, a couple times minor errors pulled me from the story. Luckily the book was good enough to pull me right back. If you're looking for a unique, world-saving adventure with a fiery romance, go read this book.

Mission one has a good story line. We are getting the beginning facts of how everyone has gotten to the academy and why. End of the world is coming if the chosen ones don’t save it. Scorpion and Renna are both tough in their own ways, because of their backgrounds. Does end on a cliff hanger so here’s hoping book two is more entertaining

This is probably the best 'Academy' book I have read. The characters are well developed and more mature than many of the other books I have read. When the book starts out and we meet up with Scorpion you quickly get into the action. As we alternate between his POV and Renna's, we see the story line developed, while getting to know them. As soon as these two characters get on the page together there is serious chemistry. Bonding and becoming a team are the main goals of this first book. I am extremely eager to see what the next book holds.

This book made my emotions confused. I really wasn't sure about Renna and I think that was the point. Scorpion though I loved him from the first chapter he's my new book boyfriend for sure. It was frustrating how Renna was fighting how she felt about scorpion it drove me crazy but by the end of the book I get why she was that way.
I actually enjoyed this book alot 2 of my favorite authors together as absolutely fantastic! I'm so glad I bought book 2 as well so I can start it immediately cause that cliff hanger!
I do love the vampire and human romance but my favorite is that the girl is the vampire instead of the other way around its a nice difference

“Scorpion Blood” is such a fun book to read. Authors Stephany Wallace and J.L. Weil did a fabulous job creating this new world and academy. The characters are well written and unique. The chemistry between some of them is hot and fun to read about. Ex-Delta Force Ethan or known as Scorpion is a fun character to read about. Much changes in his life and he takes it with a bit of humor and self-confidence. I look forward to the next book in this new series.

Scorpion Blood is an interesting story, complete with supernatural brings grouped together to save the world from all things demonic. Enter Ethan James, ex delta force who just resigned his job in the secret service. He is taken through a portal to the academy where he learns about the inhabitants and why he has been selected to be the only human to set foot there.

Of course there is a girl and she has a complete attitude, vampire or not. But naturslly, he's taken by her pretty face etc and they hook up after a short while.

But there is a mission to complete and it's very difficult with personalities that clash. The characters seem a little different...... But it's still interesting.

Scorpion Blood is an amazing collaboration by Stephany Wallace and J.L. Weil and I loved it! STA - The Supernatural Taskforce Academy is an elite academy for supernaturals all with exceptional skills, trained to be the best of the best, to protect humanity. This is a fast paced book that grabs your attention right from the beginning full of action, danger, suspense, romance and a dynamic group of characters: Renna a badass Vampire, Scorpion human ex-Delta Force, Witches Tricksy & Catina and Wolf Shifter Oliver. I can’t wait to see what’s in-store for the them in the next book of the series Mystic Blaze!!!

Was super happy to hear these 2 authors were teaming up together! I've been a fan of both these lovely ladies so was super hyped.

I liked the character of Renna and Scorpian, it was great to learn about his background but felt like it was really his story and not so much about Renna. Yes we got a few things from her point of view that gave great insight into this world and helped explain things but I feel like it could have worked just fine with 1 POV, even though during some scenes I really wanted to be in Rennas head instead. I do prefer the characters separately more as Renna can be too in her own head plus a little insta love for me, i'm sure there is something more at play but till I find that out I'm a little meh about the romance.

The magic and supernatural side of the story was cool, and I think their is a lot more to be said about some aspects of the world and I can't wait to see some of the other supernaturals that we get to see.

Overall it was an enjoyable read and I do want to read more just hope the story gets the meat it needs and that we just get more.
