Crossroads Magic (Witchtown Crossing Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

I’m just an ordinary, middle-aged woman, and my life is falling apart….

When did I become such a cliché? I’m divorced, working a crappy job, living on next to nothing, and wondering how it all went so wrong.

Then it goes even
more wrong. My grown daughter turns up after not speaking to me for two years, with stunning news of her own, and to cap it off, I’m summoned to a tiny, isolated hamlet in northern New York called Haigton Crossing, where my mother has lived for decades.

Haigton Crossing looks like a throw back to another time. For such a small place, it is stuffed full of secrets. The people there are different, including the town’s doctor, Benedict Marcus. And Haigton Crossing is way, way too small to host a murder….

This book is part of the paranormal women’s fiction series, Witchtown Crossing:
1.0: Crossroads Magic
…with more to come!

A Paranormal Women’s Fiction novel.

As always a cracking story– definitely a keeper series—Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.

Reader reviews:

Filled with the brilliant imaginings of a master of worldbuilding, and is positively littered with staggering, thought-provoking concepts.

At times it felt like the main location was a minor character itself.

I can't tell you how glad I was to find Tracy Cooper-Posey.

If you like action, adventure, and love this is the book for you. I just couldn't put it down.

Written flawlessly and the story flowed so effortlessly you could imagine you actually know these people

What a writer TCP is - she continually surprises and surpasses my expectations.

This is such a fantastic book! It grabbed my interest on the first page and several hours later I found myself reading the last sentence. Wonderful characters and an intricate plot kept me turning page after page, leaving me wanting more. This is my kind of book!

I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves mystery, magic and great storytelling. It's a winner and I can't wait for the next volume!

I was thoroughly drawn in by the fascinating characters, the peculiar setting and the untangling mystery.

The characters were complex and interactions provided much interest. Main character Anna had been dealt a raw deal in life but this was not to continue for her!

The small settlement of Haigton Crossing came alive in rich detail whilst it provided a catalyst for the changes in Anna's life.
The story introduces the magic and mysteries of the crossing in a very real slice-of-life style, but the focus is still the character interactions.

I finished the book on a positive and happy high, feeling good about where the story left off and where the characters lives were left. I'm excited it's a new series as I would love to spend more time with them <hearts in eyes>.

Wow! A great first in series book. Anna has gone through so much, but her trials aren’t over. Her mother’s passing means that she has to head across the US to deal with any of her mother’s loose ends. But when she arrives at her mother’s home, things aren’t what she expected.
First there is the culture shock. Going from LA to New York’s North Country is almost overwhelming. Then there are the town’s inhabitants. Things are definitely a bit different. A bit at a time Anna finds her place in this town. Will she stay or will she return to LA? Read this wonderful story and find out.

Anne, the protagonist in this novel, is a “woman of a certain age,” a phrase as it is applied to women, that can be traced all the way back to 1754. (Apparently some things don’t change as the centuries roll on.) From the very first the story is so atmospheric that I found myself reflecting on the first time I was addressed as “ma’am,” and that period of my life when I did appear to be invisible to many people, just because I had grown older. So it was very interesting indeed to read a story illustrating how those almost subliminal experiences suddenly become blatantly obvious and such a large part of one’s life. In other words, I was invested with the main character from the very beginning.

I live in a rural area, outside of any city or town limits, though that was not always the case. I can easily imagine the culture shock Anne experiences when she leaves Los Angeles — strictly on a temporary basis to attend to pressing family business — only to find herself in a country hamlet that is more than a little confusing to someone so accustomed to a big city. Culture shock is just one of the many problems that Anne is forced to shoulder as the plot continues to unfold, and the story does an outstanding job of keeping the reader guessing. An excellent beginning to what promises to be a most intriguing series, Crossroads Magic is a fascinating story in itself, though there are so many different directions this series could take that I’m itching to find out what happens next in the Witchtown Crossing series. This is my honest opinion of an ARC.

There's a lot going on here and, well, I'm here for it. Anna is a middle-aged, divorced woman with adult children, a crappy job, and an ex who can pounds rocks because I really don't like what he did to her to drive her to the point she's at (frankly, I'm hoping VERY HARD that he gets what's coming to him down the road because his actions were SUPER NOT COOL and I'm a big fan of karma.)

So. Anna's in a low point, her daughter shows up after a couple years of estrangement, and Anna gets called to the small town (not even a town, really, more like a hamlet or something even smaller) her mother lived in to deal with her sudden death. With Ghaliya (her daughter) in tow, she sets out to see what needs to be done.

As it turns out, Haigton Crossing is a odd place inhabited by colorful characters. As Anna attempts to investigate her mother's death, she comes face to face with a world she didn't know existed. Or maybe she did know, but didn't realize because her mother was smack-dab in the middle of it and some of that had to have impressed on Anna a little. Regardless, her eyes are opened in a big way and everything changes for her pretty quickly.

A small (but not necessarily as close-knit as you might think) town, a little magic, a mystery Anna is determined to uncover, a daughter who needs support, a doctor who plays his cards close to the vest, and a lady who is discovering who she is when she's called to Haigton Crossing and has the world open up around her. *thumbs up*

It was wonderful to read a book about a woman who is closer to my age facing problems that I might actually have. Anna Crackstone’s life has not turned the way she thought it would. Divorced, pushed out of a job she loved, working as a waitress and having to pay alimony to her ex-husband. Her daughter who hasn’t spoken to her in 2 years shows up pregnant. Then she receives a phone call telling her she needs to come to Haigton Crossing to settle her mother’s affairs.
Haigton Crossing is nothing like what she was expecting. It seems to come from another time. The town has interesting characters and secrets. Including a huge one about Anna herself and another one concerning how her mother died.
Tracy Cooper Posey transports you to a small quirky town in northern New York. She explains the sights, sounds and smells in a way that makes you feel like you are there. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series!
