In this book it is the Prince in a cursed sleep needing to be woken with true love's kiss. A chemist who doesn't want to kiss him without his consent has brewed a potion to wake the Prince but the only way to get it in his mouth is to kiss him. She also doesn't like the Prince. A great start for an awesome story. She also has a goat companion.

I absolutely adored this book. It has everything a fantasy lover could want. It has a curse, dragons, a hilarious goat and court intrigue. I found it to be very well written and I was instantly glued to the pages.
King Maddoc & Queen Kalanthami's only son was cursed from birth. Silas was due to die on his 20th birthday. His frantic mother had a Chemist named Chantria Hardacher alter it. Instead of death he would sleep until he had true love's first kiss. Then Everliegh Hardacher comes along with her kiss and appears to awaken him. She had been working on a potion for quite some time. Her mother disappeared ages ago so she passed the time by potion making & healing.
The trouble was the prince was drawn to her because of the potion. She knew the people in town thought of her as a witch but she was a chemist. The story goes on with the Prince always wants to be with her. He sees an intelligence in her ways. She helps all who need her services. Silas realizes she has an injured flyer (a dragon) and a very insistent goat. (The goat is hilarious) Silas wants to read her mothers books looking for answers and Everliegh wants to say no but realizing Silas also lost 5 years of his life due to the curse, she agrees. As the two seek answers they end up actually becoming friends.
This is a book I highly recommend. It will keep you turning pages and chuckling at some goat antics. Can't wait for book 2.

When I started reading this book it drew me in. Then to find out it continues to another book just sucked. I have already bought book two, but I'm afraid it's going to continue from that one. I buy the books to support the authors, but when I finish this story I'm not sure I will be reading anymore of her books.

Wow! This book is SO good! I hated the cliffhanger ending but honestly, I'm going to have to read the rest because I am hooked now. The main character is so strong! The prince is awful to begin with but slowly redeems himself. I love the romance they have. It's definitely a slow, slow, slow burn. It's rare I find books I know that I will re-read, but I will this one for sure. I hope the next book comes out soon because I'm an impatient person. Lol. If you like romantasy with a fairytale twist, you should give this a try. I don't think you will regret it.
I did recieve a free copy of this from BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving a review. These opinions are my own.

The narrative is skillfully crafted, blending romance, mystery, and a touch of magic. The pacing of the book got me really engaged, and the resolution is both satisfying and leaves room for anticipation of what's to come in Book 2. As a reader, my heart was particularly captivated by the unexpected turns in the plot, the well-developed characters, and the enchanting world the author created.

One cannot overlook the charming presence of Kiva the goat, whose quirky personality steals the show. The bond between Kiva and Prince Silas adds a heartwarming layer to the narrative, offering moments of humor and tenderness. I really loved reading this book.

This book is such a pleasure to read, even with the ending that can cause tears!
Everleigh is a strong, talented woman who has overcome much sorrow. Her talent as a chemist is remarkable, and she would be considered in this day, a master of herbal medicine. The arc of the story is the waking of the cursed Prince Silas, a male Sleeping Beauty, if you will, and the aftermath; as you read the book, his personality reflects his princeliness ( I think I just made that word up, but you will know what I mean), and the five years lost while asleep. The book becomes all the more precious when you experience the antics of Kiva, the intelligent goat, and Puff, the baby ayrsyryd, who will remind you of Sylvia's wyvern in the Rosewood series. There are many happy scenes, situations in which trust grows, and then the betrayal, that will have you say " How could he?" Once I started reading, I looked for time to return to reading as I needed to keep reading! I hope book two comes quickly as I have to know what happens next :)

This was really good. If it hadn’t ended on a cliffhanger (I despise cliffhangers, even a series should have complete books) I’d have given this 5 stars. I absolutely hated the prince to start but he definitely grew as the story went on and was actually likable by the end. I would have like to see more interaction between the characters and other characters instead almost all being just the two of them but other than that, the cliffhanger, and one instance of misplaced time (somehow the prince had been visiting for weeks but at the end it was only a week?) this was really good.

This is book one of the Beyond the Veil series. This is a reverse Sleeping Beauty retelling. The prince is cursed, and our girl Everleigh might be the one to save him. The twists and unexpected turns keep you reading and turning the pages. The world building is detailed and imaginative. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. This book has strong, well-developed characters, an interesting story line full of suspense, danger, action, mystery, unexpected twists, passion, and a cliffhanger that left me wanting to read the next book in the series. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.

This book was riveting, I couldn't put it down! The first book in a long time that had me trying to multitask just to find out what was going to happen next! (Pro tip: don't try to read and cook eggs at the same time).
The adventure, romance, mystery and detail of the world drew me in, not to mention how real the characters feel! I'm already looking forward to book two in this series!

Richly colourful characters that had me wanting to stay up all night to read it. Loved it. It’s not the typical style I read but I was hooked early on. A definite read for those who like an immersive fantasy world

Fast moving, intricately interwoven story line, twist on the sleeping beauty scenario. Shuddered in meeting the Shadow folk in the dungeon. Mystery pervades as to what the Veil is about. Volume 2 must tell us more about that. Is the magnetic attraction of primary characters curse or magic or real? Liked the tight weaving of the story, not a word or situation superfluous. Bravo!
