    The story The Catch (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander is a suspense/romance book. This is a story that draws you in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. The book includes a secret club for those who live a certain lifestyle. It does a good job of providing details on how the club looks and also has scenes about what goes on there. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Paisley Parker and Calvin Mitchell. Paisley helps manage the club. She is new to Ocean City and to her job. She finds that it is different in the way that those that own the club include her in their personal life. She is smart and independent. People are drawn to her as she shows confidence in herself and the way she looks. Paisley doesn’t do relationships. She does hook-ups or friends with benefits. What happens when she meets a man who wants to pursue a relationship with her? Calvin is smart, kind, and owns his own business. He is quite clear about his feelings for Paisley. He is drawn to her. He wants not only her body but her heart, mind, and soul as well. While Paisley can’t deny the attraction that she has for Calvin and that he invades her thoughts she has always relied on herself. Then her past comes back to haunt her and she finds herself turning to Calvin for help. He is protective of her. What does the future hold for the two of them? Will he be able to convince Paisley to start a relationship with him? Read this story to find out. I like that Paisley and Calvin both care about and want to protect each other. They are characters that you want to find happiness. There are parts of this story that are suspenseful and had me wondering what was going to happen next. There are also some very steamy scenes included throughout the book. I enjoyed reading about the other characters that are introduced in the story as well. This is the second book in a series and can be read as a standalone. It is a wonderful read and a book I would highly recommend.

    This book was a little less "fun" than the first in the series. Don't get me wrong, it still had plenty of moments, but in addition there was this aura of suspense mingled in, giving this story a little more depth.

    I really loved the main character, Paisley. She was fun and real. It is nice to see a character that isn't some perfect specimen. She has some flaws, and she does work to try and fix them. But what she doesn't change is who she is, a bigger but still beautiful woman with a great personality who deserves love. She defies the stereotype that only model-thin women are beautiful and sexy, and it's refreshing!

    I also really enjoyed the fact that although this book is primarily about new main characters, Paisley and Calvin, we still see Leah and Cap and other characters from the first story.

    All right! I have a lot of things to say about this book! It took me some time to read it, but that was only because I was on a reading hiatus for a while because of my own projects. : (

    I'm gonna do this one by numbers:

    1- Okay, let's start with Calvin! *hearty eyes* He's so cute!!! Ugh! Love Calvin! I won't lie, I originally wanted the book for him Ahahah. Wasn't disappointed! Yes! FINALLY a male protagonist from the romance genre who isn't white! Do you know how long I've been waiting for this??? Calvin is a nerd. He's sweet. And he's really, really, really handsome! : )

    2- Let's talk about how assertive and secure Paisley is as a female. Phoebe Alexander writes wonderful books that send a beautiful message to all women! Love yourself! I loved reading Paisley's POV and we need more female characters like her.
    Paisley is sexually liberated! How refreshing! Finally a book that doesn't shame women for their sexuality while glorifying men for it! I loved that this book didn't have the typical trope of an oversexed male free to have intercourse at will while the female keeps calling herself a "slut" for it.
    Paisley has sex when she wants, with whoever she wants.
    She has a great job. She takes care of herself.
    And she IS flawed! I disapproved of her choices toward the end, but those made her human, and they showed that she also has a fragile side.

    3- Diversity! An interracial couple at last!!!! I have been waiting for an NA non-white male or female lead for so long! If you know any other NA romance novel with a non-Caucasian couple, please let me know! And Paisley isn't your typically thin heroine either. She's big, with lots of curves, and she's gorgeous, and I love that. : )

    4- The chapter where Jason slut-shames and fat-shames Paisley! Wow! That chapter is SO real! I mean, honestly, that's a reality of life for women everywhere, and I loved that the issue was exposed in this book!

    5- The quote page 164! Yes, can we please stop vilifying sex while glorifying violence?!

    6- The formatting, editing, and cover of this book are just perfect. Anyone who thinks indie authors can't deliver quality obviously haven't read Phoebe Alexander. Just saying!

    What I hated:
    1- I HATE Paisley's family. Every single one of them, including her grand-parents. There, I said it.

    2- Nothing... There is nothing I hate about this book. =p

    So yes, I know I used a lot of exclamation points in my review... Ah! Just shows my excitement over this book... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The Catch is the second book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This book is a wonderful contemporary romance that takes us on a journey into the world of swinging, so if you don’t like sexy, steamy, and erotic- then this probably isn’t the book for you!
    But, having said that, don’t let the ‘swinging’ part of the story put you off reading this really great story, because if you go into it with an open mind you will be surprised by what you’ll find under the cover of this superb story, there is much more to the story than the erotic elements. There is depth and substance.
    Paisley Parker is new to town and has been hired as a manager for the Factory (Private Swingers Club). She’s the definition of sex-bomb: a curvy burlesque dancer from New York. She doesn’t do relationships, only indulging in casual hook-ups. But is there more to her story? Is her confidence masking a deeper vulnerability?
    In an effort to develop a website for the Factory, Paisley hires someone with the expertise to get the job done right. Enter Calvin Mitchell. He’s immediately drawn to her and would like to see where their mutual attraction may lead. So, what happens when this one-woman-man meets this wild and sexy woman? What happens when he learns about the club and the ‘lifestyle’? What about their age difference? And what happens when the past returns to haunt her?
    This story is really well written, DUH- it’s Phoebe Alexander! There’s drama, emotion, passion, erotica, some suspense, surprises, friendship, connections, and lots of steam. The characters were wonderful and went through some development and growth over the course of the story. Once again Ms. Alexander has produced a enticing and sex-positive story, that drew me in right from the get-go.
    Another great read from this talented author!

The main character Phoebe is endearing, even if she isn't always making the best decisions. Her interaction with Calvin is a true modern love story.
