    Josh is the captain of Chicago Steel and a good man. He gets himself in a difficult situation and doesn't handle it in the best way. He's just too nice and I did want to slap some sense into him. But after finally getting his head on straight, he meets Kenzie, the sweetest, kindest woman on the planet. She has her own bakery and makes the most divine creations. He is love struck at first glance but has a hard time getting through to her. She is wary of him because of all she has heard about him online, all lies posted about him. When he is finally able to get her to trust him, they are both so happy and perfect together. But of course that's not the way life goes! There are blips and roadblocks that get in their way and in their heads that these two have to navigate. Get past old hurts and betrayals. I just love the other players and their wives/girlfriends who come to support them! It's so great to see them all again, getting married and having babies! This series is just so good! I love The Steel!

    If you’re a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope look no further than slashed by you. Josh (mmc) coming off of a horrendous relationship with a literal she devil, finds love in Kenzie. Past relationships hinder josh from receiving some unexpected news well and GROVELS in the sweetest way to show his love to Kenzie. All in all it was a great read

    I am enjoying this series. Each book captures a different couple with backstory and road to HEA in a true interconnected standalones within a series.

    If accidental pregnancy is your favorite trope, you can start here to fall in love with the Captain. I loved how the pregnancy trope was handled. Rather than kept in secret or joyfully accepted, there was tough reality in the storyline that had me thinking "ouch dude". But it brought together an excellent grovel.

    Both characters are relatable. Kenzie is strong but doesn't have that closed off edge. She wants to blaze her path and be her own person. Josh has been hurt in the past and not fully dealt with those ghosts to really allow his walls down.

    Jessica Buss scores with SLASHED BY YOU (Chicago Steel #5). This is Captain of the Chicago Steel, Josh Logan’s and CakeStop Bakery owner Kenzie’s story.

    SLASHED BY YOU starts out with Josh in his previous relationship that leaves him with trust issues. After his breakup, he meets Kenzie at the Steel Your Heart gala. Kenzie's bakery is supplying the desserts at the gala. The two form of friendship and spend a lot of time together. They become best friends. It takes a long time for the couple to take their relationship to the next level.

    At the beginning of the story, I was having a really hard time with Josh and his previous relationship. I just wanted to shake him because of how gullible he was. His ex was a piece of work. Kenzie is super sweet. Josh and Kenzie are an amazing couple. Josh's previous relationship caused issues for the couple.

    SLASHED BY YOU is a heartwarming and entertaining read. It is an excellent addition to the Chicago Steel series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

    This book evoked an emotional reaction to the lead male character and it was not very good at first, just giving you fair warning!

    Josh is an imposing figure of a hockey player. He can go up against huge men on the ice but he couldn't handle a tiny woman!! After putting up so very long with a female who was not the woman of his dreams, he doesn't know how to handle the woman who should be his soulmate.

    When Kenzie meets Josh, she wins him over with her sweets both in her personality and in her oven at her bakery. Kenzie has established her dream, her very own bakery and it is her original baked goods from there that she has won Josh's stomach and heart.

    Sadly, there is a huge development that splits this pair and it is a long climb to reach the point where they had been but the trip is so worth it.
