Marco Polo Psycho - Rosie Zayne

    Prologue

She knew this was where it would all end. Her hopes, dreams, and any kind of happy future would die with her tonight.

Well, silly girl. she said quietly to herself, coughing weakly. You gave it your all. I just hope he can find peace.

She felt her strength faltering, as the weight of sleep fell on her. While she knew she wouldn’t wake again, she wondered if this sleep, would finally give her the peace she had never found before.

    The Beginning

    Two Months Earlier

Jamie had finally gotten her hair and makeup perfect. Her dress fit well enough to show off her hard-earned curves, without making her look too promiscuous. Nights like this, as she admired her appearance in the mirror, proved that her efforts in her fitness lifestyle were worth it. Who needs cake, when you can have killer abs?

She smiled at herself, before heading to the door to answer the knock she had been waiting twenty minutes to hear. The man on the other side took her breath away, his sharp jaw and charming smile working wonders on her.

Evening, beautiful. You look phenomenal. Ready to go? Roger asked, leaning casually on the door frame.

Thanks! She flashed a smile and struck a little pose, her nerves mixing with excitement and making her a little silly.  Yep, just let me grab my purse. She practically skipped to the table in the entryway, plucking her little purse off the polished wood.

She locked the door on the way out, buzzing with giddy excitement for this date. She hadn’t met a man this charming in over a year, and as he walked her to his car, she focused on staying just as poised and charming herself. She wasn’t quite desperate, but had been circling that particular drain for a while, and was eager to make something substantial happen with Roger.

Have any trouble finding the place? She asked once they’d settled in his car, making small talk as he started up the engine.

No, not at all. GPS makes it pretty easy. He teased, making her giggle.

Oh, right. I forget everyone has those now-a-days.

The drive to the restaurant was a fantastic appetizer to the rest of their date, and they chatted effortlessly. Roger was wonderful to be around, easy to talk to, and always knew how to make her blush. He was definitely smooth, and she loved every minute of his attention.

The place he had picked for their date was fancy, matching the rest of his tastes. Everything about him screamed posh and polished, and yet, he wasn’t overly snooty. It was clear he had money, from his easy smile and nice clothes that seemed made for him, but his eyes showed a bit more. They noticed everything, hinting at a calculating mind, which intrigued Jamie the most. She wanted to explore the depths of his mind, as well as his smile.

They were seated quickly since he had made reservations ahead of time, and he surprised her by ordering for them both, wine and all. What made it so surprising though, was the fact he ordered what sounded like the perfect dish for her. This was only their first date, but he had read her quite well, apparently.

How did you know I’m a vegetarian? I don’t think I told you that. Jamie asked, both curious and slightly uneasy about
