The Only One (Love in a Small Town Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 206 ratings

He’s the sexy widowed dad who owns a local bar. She takes his job offer to get away from her over-protective family. Are they too different to make a marriage of convenience work?

Being a single dad taking care of my critically ill mother was never in my plans. I’m in over my head when Rilla Grant steps in to help me. She’s quiet, shy—my polar opposite—but she loves my little girl, and that’s all that matters. Circumstances force us into a marriage of convenience, but I’m not going to risk my heart again. Or am I?

Falling in love might be the craziest chance we ever take.

Set in Burton, Ga, the small town where everyone knows everyone ... at least they thought they did until the shy Rilla showed up at Sam's stand. Megan knew there was something special about Rilla.

Rilla, the homeschool girl from the Grant farm that nobody knew wanted to spread her wings even though her father frowned upon it.

Mason just moved back to Burton with his daughter. He was not looking for love, he didn't want to have his heart broken again. All he thought he wanted was help for his daughter and mother.

This entire series was incredible, one that has you laughing, crying and cheering for the love and warmth in this series. A MUST READ!

I have Loved each book in this series! It was fun visiting Burton again and catching up with characters I Love. I was hooked from the start you have to Love a man raising a daughter and in Love with his deceased wife. Rilla came in and I was thinking how do you let someone control your life so much and wanted more. I loved watching the sparks fly and the characters fall in Love and understanding of what they each wanted in their lives with snags along the way. Great story all the way through and WONDERFUL characters this is a must read!!!!!!!!

The Only One by Tawdra Kandle

Enjoyed this book mainly because of Rilla (FMC), and also Mason's daughter and mother. Loved Rilla's wide eyed naivete but especially her growth into a strong willed woman. Mason was harder to like: his tragic past was no excuse for treating Rilla with such disrespect.

Single father Mason lost his one true love a few yrs ago. Now he's not open to love, and his time is consumed by daughter, ailing mother, and the bar he owns. Rilla just got kicked out of her home by her fundamentalist father for pursuing career.

Loved this and truly wished it were longer. I loved Mason, Rilla & Piper (Mason's Mom too, of course). This book had me from the start. Unbelievable chemistry, but their love story was so very different and welcomed.

Well done Tawdra, now bring us more please.
(Pretty please with sugar on top?)

I've just discovered a new author, tore through all three books in this series, and I still feel as though I can't get enough.
I swear I feel as though they may have just called "last call"at the book bar and for me the party is just getting started. Not too many authors have ever caught my attention like this.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The end of this trilogy is bittersweet. I'm happy that everyone managed to find their HEA, but I'm sad to see this group of wonderful characters go.

Rilla was introduced previously as the mousy girl with a plan to make the farm stand grow. Using her online college degree, she managed to make a difference to all the other characters we've met, so it only makes sense that she gets to star in her own installment. Though she was raised in a very sheltered environment, Rilla is finally growing a backbone. She's testing her boundaries and pushing her father's limits. While she still lives at home, she's determined to grow her own business and begin her new life. This, of course, leads to much drama at home. Mason is a widower, single-father, and owner of the hottest place in town. While he's not hurting for business, he is trying new things. This led him right to Rilla.

These two are very different, but they both have great love for Mason's little girl, Piper. She's adorable and it's easy to see how she ropes Rilla in at first sight. When Rilla is confronted with Mason's caregiver dilemma, she jumps right in to help. This modified family unit just seems to... work. There is a synergy right from the start and even the "determined never to love again" Mason find himself making wild and unexpected leaps.

This book had a lot of unusual twists and turns, but it still had the same heart that the other books in the series had. No matter how broken a character, everyone somehow manages to find their happy ending. There's a nice epilogue that is bound to give you some warm fuzzies.

Mason Wallace left his hometown to live his dream. He had the perfect career, a beautiful wife and precious baby girl. He thought he had it all...all he would ever need...until his wife suddenly dies. He has come back home to Georgia, opened a bar and is raising his daughter.

Rilla Grant is a sweetheart and obedient to her father's every demand/command. She's never been more than twenty miles from her home. Her overbearing, over-protective father keeps her on a short leash. He has plans for her to marry their church's youth pastor and settle close by with the life he has planned for her. It doesn't matter what she wants or thinks and it's not what she wants anymore. She's itching to make her own decisions and plans starting with her own PR business.

Rilla is working with Mason on a PR plan for Mason's bar. He is so drool worthy and just the kind of man she has dreamed about. He's the only man who has ever tempted her to defy her family. Mason also wants her help with his daughter and she moves in to do just that along with her PR work.

This is a great story. Another hit by Tawdra Kandle and I loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an incredibly sweet story!

Tawdra Kandle did it again! In The Only One, she managed to weave a unique story with a very different feel from the two previous books of The One trilogy. At the same time, this one is just as compelling and intriguing. The One is an incredibly sweet story. It addresses coming of age, advocating for yourself, finding and taking your place in the world, learning to let go of what holds you back, and more …
There will be laughs, tears of sorrow, and tears of joy; displays of human strengths and weaknesses. All of it so relatable. Really a lovely romance novel. Who knew life in a little Georgia town would be so intriguing?

Good read but did not set my world alight. I loved Rilla and Mason, and I enjoyed their journey, but found it all a smidge predictable.
