About the authors
Gabi Stevens travels the world with her robotics engineer husband and her three incredible daughters (Reality: she went to Europe last summer with her family, but lives in New Mexico). Because she is fluent in three languages and knows Latin, her abilities are in demand from many different factions (Reality: she has Hungarian relatives who needed her to translate to her family and students to whom she taught English and Latin) and her knowledge has helped numerable writers in their quest for publication (Reality: she has presented many writing workshops and has a critique group). Her latest novels feature dragons and tie travel. Her current release is The Stone Key. Gabi claims no magical powers of her own. You can find her at www.GabiStevens.com, unless she's off on one of her world tours (Hey, she really did just come home from Costa Rica.)
Discover the magic.
After discovering romance novels quite by accident, Marilyn revived her interest in writing. Since 2001, she's had over 40 short stories published in both confession and romance magazines and in 2013 she sold her first book. She is an active member of her local writing group, Heart of Dixie Fiction Writers.
In addition to reading and writing, Marilyn loves watching TV crime dramas, cooking for one and gardening in a few pots on her patio. Her motto is "Have passport, will travel" and she is always ready to add another location to the list of 32 states and 21 foreign countries she has visited so far.
A native of North Carolina, Marilyn arrived in Huntsville, Alabama by way of Frankfurt, Germany. She has lived in Alabama longer than anywhere else and calls it her home. She raised two great sons and now loves to dote on her two terrific granddaughters and a rambunctious grandson. And, recently retired from her day job at a law firm, she wonders how she ever had time to work.
You can learn more about Marilyn and her books on her website at www.marilynbaxter.com.
Sheri Humphreys used to be an Emergency Room nurse, but today applies bandages, splints, and slings to the characters of her Victorian romance novels. She loves to ignore yardwork and housework and read—usually with Lucy, a Jack Russell-mix, or Mama Catt, a superb mouser, by her side. She lives in a small town on the central California coast.
A HERO TO HOLD received a prized Kirkus Star and was named to Kirkus Reviews' Best Books of 2016.

Murderer? Stalker? Mayhem? Are bad guys coming to get her? Nope, Diane is just a retired school teacher with a laptop. She’s been married for decades. Decades! She walks Finn every morning (mostly). She FaceTimes with her grandkids. The most excitement she’s had lately is a bumpy ride on a plane, and that’s not the fun kind of excitement. But her heroines? They have all the thrills. Scary things happen to them. Hot, compelling men find them fascinating. And they always find their HEA.
An avid reader for as long as she can remember, Diane has always favored stories with strong female characters who go on adventures and can think themselves out of the most dangerous situations. It’s no surprise that those are the kinds of books she enjoys writing.
Diane’s love of the outdoors is reflected in her books. Born and raised in Southern California, family vacations meant camping in locations ranging from Big Sur to Death Valley to Zion. Two of her series are set in fictional towns in her happy place, California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Her love of travel took her to Sweden as an exchange student when she was sixteen and backpacking around Great Britain (after a week in Paris) while in college. She and her husband have enjoyed pulling their little trailer to the National Parks, including Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Pinnacles.
Winner of the National Readers’ Choice Award in Romantic Suspense and a USA Today Bestselling author, Diane has recently retired from a career teaching high school history. She now has all the time in the world for writing, gardening, and travel. That's the theory, anyway. She is a member of the Orange County Romance Writers.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2018I one-clicked this anthology because the proceeds go to a really great cause and one of the stories, Bleu, is written by one of my favorite authors L.P. Maxa. It was such a fun read!! Bleu and Maykin meet through mutual friends and become besties. I absolutely loved the way the interact with each other and so enjoyed watching them fall in love.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2018In this anthology, you have 8 stories by 8 outstanding authors. Also, most readers have their favorite type of heroes. In these stories, there is a tattoo artist, two firefighters, two sheriff deputies, a famous furniture maker, a veterinarian, and a country music singer, and I loved them all. Then add in that each story has a dog or puppy that is rescued, along with a story of love and romance, it is a winning combination. I am not going to give a review on each story. Instead, I will tell you that they are all wonderful.
If these are not excellent reasons to buy this book then, also know that all proceeds from the book goes toward Project Freedom Ride that is a Nonprofit that is connecting unwanted, abandoned dogs bound for euthanasia in Texas with rescues and Humane Societies in Washington State and then into loving families.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2019I love rescue stories especially with police or firefighters. I dislike stories with crude and unnecessarily foul language, like the first one. The first story points to what has gone wrong in our society with no morals. The rest are the opposite.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2018Sweet, Sexy stories featuring furbabies and helping to save lives, it's a win win for all.
Bleu by L.P. Maxa starts this anthology off with her trademark sexiness and humor. Add in fire fighters, law officer, a mystical character or 3 a veterinarian and a musician and you have a book full of love.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2019It was a unique medley of intriguing short stories

- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2018What a great collection of stories for a great cause.
Bleu by L.P. Maxa - This was my first read by this author and this best friends to lovers story was an enjoyable read. Bleu and Maykin fight their attraction to each other as long as they can, but after they start volunteering at an animal shelter and fostering a puppy together they can no longer deny their feelings. Puppies and romance are a great combination.
Always A Hero by Marilyn Baxter - This sweet romance has a hot hero and sweet dogs and puppies.....what more could you ask for! Noah and Lucy meet under horrible circumstances, but are instantly attracted to each other. These two dog lovers decide to take a chance on love and find their HEA with the help of their furry friends. A truly enjoyable read!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2020This is a beautiful box set of 8 stories by 8 different authors.
Add alpha males, feisty females who they fall in love with, cuteness in the form of dogs and or puppies, and you have the makings of a brilliant read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this box set. Added to which, proceeds went to a good cause.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
