Introduction
At some point, many of us feel let down by our physical bodies. We get tired of the way we feel, the way we look and the way we move. We carry on day to day, assuming that one day we will do something about ‘this lack of energy’, ‘this extra weight’, ‘this lack of physical activity’. Then one day it happens…. We get so frustrated with the ways things are that we decide it is time for a change. A pivotal moment is reached and a new determination is born. We gather information, make a plan, set up accountability and off we go; challenging ourselves to a new workout regime, a healthy diet, a new body, a stronger, healthier version of ourselves.
And what are the results when we challenge our bodies this way? It will look different for everyone. Some might experience weight loss, fewer inches, bigger muscles, increased energy or a stronger heart. Some changes may be seen and some changes may only be felt. Some changes might be so deep within the body, supporting organs and tightening tendons, that we may never even know that they are happening.
Many of us have never considered challenging our minds. Most of us have never set aside a specific time in our lives to challenge a thought pattern. We carry on day to day without questioning what thoughts come into our minds and the effects that these thoughts have on us. We aren’t aware of the impact of fear and how worry has seeped into the very fiber of who we are. Until one day, we realize that we don’t feel well, that we are anxious and have tight muscles, that we are tossing and turning at night because our minds are always busy. We realize that living this way is affecting our relationships and our happiness. We long for peace and for calm. We long to feel safe and secure.
I know those feelings well, because I spent many years living this way. Over time, worry had unknowingly become my constant companion. Worry kept me from enjoying the fullness of life. It wore me out. It impacted my decisions, my relationships, my sleep and my health. I’ve walked that path, and it’s exhausting.
The Worry/Free Challenge is for the person who finds themselves in this place. It’s for the person who is sick and tired of worrying and for the person who hopes and longs for something different. It’s for the person who chooses to believe that God has the ability and the desire to transform them… and finds this truth incredibly exciting. And it is for the person who just needs a place to start!
And what will be the result of The Worry/Free Challenge? It will look different for everyone. My hope and prayer is that you will experience less fear, less worry, awareness of thought patterns, strength of mind and a deeper trust in God. Some of these changes may come more easily and some may take more fight. Some of your transformations may even be unseen, as God is doing His work in the deepest parts of you, in your spirit, in the soil where the roots have been formed.
As I reflect on my own journey, I am so thankful for what God has done in my life. A few years ago, God reached His hand out to me. He offered me a new way. He transformed and continues to transform my thoughts. He revealed the depths of His love for me. He gave me room to breathe, and taught me how to surrender. I worry less than I used to…this is a win. My brain is less busy, my body is more balanced. I can use the energy that I used to use for worrying toward the good stuff of life.
I don’t know how your life will change as you journey through The Worry/Free Challenge, but I do know that there WILL be change! There has to be. God promises that when we knock, He will open the door. He will meet us when we cry out to Him. Every time.
I’ve seen it.
I believe it.
Do you?
So, how will God meet you in this journey?
Are you excited to find out?
Then let’s begin…
