"Are you certain you want to attend the Anniversary? Seijina frowned at Betsona as she wheeled the wicker and metal-framed chair to where Betsona clung to the bedframe.
You don’t look well."
"I don’t feel well." Betsona eased herself into the wheelchair’s seat, wincing as her lower back started spasming. So it was to be one of those days. A pillow for my lower back, please.
The other woman slipped the bolster behind Betsona, lips pressed tight in disapproval. We shouldn’t have come this year.
"I have to be here this year." Betsona adjusted the bolster.
Ah. There.
Her back hurt less, now that she had the pillow in place. She wheeled over to her vanity and picked up a tiny bottle that nested nicely inside her palm, unstoppering it and letting one drop of the potion within fall on her tongue. Then she replaced the stopper and tucked the bottle into her bodice. Hopefully she wouldn’t need any more pain drops tonight,
