About this listen
Time is precious.
Upon returning from the alien planet, the remaining crew of the USCS Tempest never could have anticipated this: Their ship is in impeccable condition, almost like it never left space dock. All signs of their former trials are gone.
Due to a unique distortion in the planet’s atmosphere, Cas, Evie, and the rest of the crew who visited the planet missed the last 18 years of history. But just because those who stayed aboard had time to repair the ship, doesn’t mean all is good. Commander Sesster has fallen into a coma, and without him, they still can’t leave. Not to mention the fallout from Evie’s actions on the planet’s surface. Cas and Box are the only ones who witnessed the carnage, or so they think.
But their main concern is what might have happened to the Coalition in the past two decades. There’s been no comm traffic coming from Coalition space in all that time, leading Cas to fear the worst. To find out, they’ll need to find a way to travel without Sesster - at least, until they can figure out what’s wrong with him. But the truth of what happened in those 18 years may be more than any of them are ready to handle.
Broken Links is the seventh book in the wildly successful Infinity's End series! Don’t miss this exciting chapter - order yours today!

Story
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look…that’s more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Doctor Benjamin Schröder was far from a man of action. In fact, he was a history teacher - chairman of the Castle Rock University history department - and if his life wasn't perfect, it was close. Until, that is the discussion of his star student Elzbietá Abramowski's dissertation on Operation Oz, the Pacific Allies' invasion of Vladivostok, was brutally interrupted. The psychotic episode that turned his entire world upside down struck with absolutely no warning, and it was more terrifying than anything he should have been able to imagine.

Astounding, Writing just keeps Getting Better!
Broken Links is an apt name for this book, with so many personal links having been shattered in the previous book.
Evie having lost control to Daingne and going on a rampage, killing 7 crew, including Laura is enough to destroy the crew, and a crew without a Captain, will never survive.
Worse still is the devastating news that they have been lost on the planet for 18yrs.
What has happened in that time? Did the Athru make it to Coalition space and do what they intended?
Cas makes a decision to block out part of Evie’s memories, so that she will not remember what has happened on the planet, using Box to help him, thinking that no one knows what has happened, those that did, are dead.
But he is wrong.
The start of this book is one that shows just how brilliant Warren is at Character writing, as he draws on all his skills to provide such an incredible range and variety of characters.
There is the obviously broken, and now confused Evie after having her memories altered, Zenfor, having been on the ship for so long, has grown extensively, and repaired the ship, making amazing upgrades and modifications to the ship, so that it is not only brand new, but better than anything the Coalition ever thought of. But she has changed so much, having lived amongst the humans and with Sester for so long. Her personality, whilst still a Sil, has so many subtle differences.
Sester is in a coma, and no one knows why, but Cas does not believe anyone, thinking that there is something going on here that they are not telling him. Very quickly, there is a mystery that starts to unfold
Lt Tyler has aged, grown, and matured, he is so much more professional, having had to run engineering all that time.
Ryant, the pilot however, has spent more than 10yrs in stasis, and does not really know why, another mystery, but even he has changed, although he still has his good humour.
One of those though, that has changed the most, is Volf, who is a ghost of her former self, seeming haunted, lost, and whilst she is in command of things, she is happy to be relieved, and yet not. She is also fearful.
Cas is immediately suspicious, but is too lost in all that has happened on the planet, with Evie, with Laura and Box, with having to try and get the ship back to Coalition space, and find out what is happening.
I do not want to give any spoilers away, there is just so many incredible, absolutely mind-blowing things that happen in this book, that if you have made it this far in the series, then you are going to have a hard time not putting this book down when you start reading it (and you will start reading it once you finish Planetfall, and you read those unbelievable words – 18yrs have passed.
Just when you think these books cannot get any better, Warren does something truly remarkable, and creates another story that is even more extraordinary than the last.
As previously stated, the Character work in this book is masterful, Warren is just a true genius at creating these Character Driven thrillers, that you get so absorbed in, you lose all concept of time and space.
The story is outstanding, totally riveting in every aspect, there are so many twists and turns, and so many different plots running parallel to each other, that at times, you actually forget that there is this other major thing happening, you have gotten so lost, so stunned in what is happening in the current chapter. Then he moves to another part of the story, and you are like ‘OMG – I forgot about that!’ and get lost in the next chapter. And suddenly you realise you have to get up for work in like 3hrs!! Sleep? Who need Sleep??
I have compared previous volumes to things like Trek and the Orville, but as this series progresses, there are no storylines, or no quality of writing in those shows that equal this series, we could only wish for something like this as a series.
As he progresses this story, Warren has continued to generate his stunning galaxy, and in this book, we learn so much more about things as he expands upon the world/galaxy building, that he could release a separate book on it (and it would be a fascinating volume indeed).
If you love a great Mil Sci-Fi, thriller, character driven story, or have even ever thought about this series, then I implore you to get this, you will not be disappointed, it is easily one of the best series I have ever read.
Larry Gorman is outstanding as the narrator of this series, with a clear and concise voice, he is easy to listen to, and does a fantastic range of voices, both male and female. As I have said previously, he has a wonderful ability to capture the emotions of the character, portraying them so well, from Cas’s cynicism, to Box’s rapid firing banter, and Evie’s commanding, yet compassionate presence. He even does Rafenkell’s rage so well, her unhinged anger.
Gorman is brilliant, at Human and Alien alike.
Gorman is so good, that it is much better to listen to this series rather than read it, as he does such an exceptional job of Narrating.

Wasted credits
I tried very hard to like this series. At this point I truly regret wasting the credits on this "Woke" Sci-Fi Tripe. Short books, weak characters, stupid plot twists. Where has all the good Sci-Fi gone?
