This was a fantastic read; however, I think it could have gone a little more into both sides of the family. Cyndi

I totally loved this story, two people love each other but one person stands between them. She has given up hope that he will ever be hers, he treats her like a sister. He loves from afar wanting the one woman who is off limits. There are times he wishes she wasn’t his best friend’s sister. She does seem to get herself into trouble voice her options about women’s rights. Wanting her voice to be hear she finds herself in one big mess, he stands on the sideline watching it all go down, unable to reach her he does the next best thing but there are some demands he will make, will she be willing? He leave her no choice, what follows is a cute, fun loving story that takes your breath away.

The narrator is great she brings emotion, excitement to the story giving wonderful character voices, just the right emotion, pausing just enough to let you take it all in. Her male and female voices are delightful, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. There are no background noises, no breaks, no volume changes just a good listen you get lost in.

First off I must declare I am a Dawn Brower fan and loyal supporter. I click very well with her writing skill and can't wait to read her next books.

With this been said I was a bit dissapointed with this episode in the Marsden saga. If you have read all the books in this series it makes a much better read but it is a stand alone. I loved the fact that Lucian and Angeline are destined to be together it's a perfect match. Angeline has the same temperament of her Aunt Lily and a tendency to get herself into trouble. Lucian the older brother of her best friend always comes to her rescue. A lovely adventure in romance as they work out their path to happiness.
I can recommend this book from young adult up as there is only a brief intimate scene at the end.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am very sure that if you knew the young Angeline, who was crazily in love with her friend's brother, Lucien, (and this for more years than she could remember, but she didn't know how he felt), then you would find her behaving in just the same way that she does in this story. Rebelliously!
Lucien, though he is becoming aware he is seeing her differently of late, won't admit to her nor to himself that he is in fact in love with her. The man even marries her to save her from herself - or so he tries to tell himself!
The not-knowing is driving them both crazy and Dawn Brower has written many interesting and very funny scenes into her story which make this book a pleasure to read.
On top of that Verona Westbrook has narrated the story using some very interesting voices and this made it a pleasure to listen to.
I am happy to recommend this book or audio book to you so that your spirits can also be lifted.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story with great characters. romance and intrigue. Evangeline had always been in love with her best friend's older sister, but he treated her like a sister. She went to a suffragette rally and ended up arrested. He comes and announces their engagement to save her, but she is stubborn and only wants him if he loves her. They had issues to resolve, but the ending was great. This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy from Booksprout.

This is such a beautiful story! I don't read many stories from this era in time but that might change after reading this one. The story is lovely and well written. I loved the characters in this fairly quick read. I really looking forward to reading more from this author. She covers so many time periods and does a real good job with the facts.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. What a wonderful Christmas time story! Angeline has been in love with her best friend's older brother Lucian since she was very young. He's never shown an interest in her. Or, has he secretly? When she gets into trouble, it's Lucian to the rescue. He's a gentleman, and offers his hand in marriage. Angeline, though, does not want a loveless marriage. I loved turning each and every page to follow the path Dawn set for these two!

2.0 out of 5 stars Leider langweilig
